hey folks,
been looking at design sites all day, we are redesigning ours, but what im looking for are the little intro text pieces used to describe companies...Whats on your site?
- ian0
Bump!
Anyone got examples of what intro text they have on their companies website?

we have shame

Ok, for example this is attik's blurb:
"We are a full-service and global brand communications agency with a passion for igniting our clients’ brands to engage and inspire their customers."
Whats on yours? No matter what you think of it.

I got nuthin
not even an address

Dang.
Just looking to see what was out there, ive found example but looking for more. Gotta get my brain around this copy writing lark...

Can't you just write in plain English what your company does? Or am I missing something?
- jamble0
you're missing something Nigel.
Clients surely don't want to hear about how you're pretty good at what you do, how you want them to be reasonably pleased but more importantly pay their bills on time.
They to know that even though they're not paying anything like the NASA annual budget, they're getting an interactive, dynamic all encompassing media solution with turnkey ... blah blah

I guess my point was that the 'marketing twaddle' shouldn't be an afterthought to go on the nice new layout/visuals etc that Ian's redesigning. Surely the first step in any redesign is establishing who you are, what you're offering, why this change in strategy or capabilities needs a new redesign, and then building the new site to support and build on that new position?

Its a wee bit of both.
A lot of sites have very little bumpf (see sea design) or a lot of it.
Im writing something about the effectiveness of design and its just not coming together. Im not a copy writer but what we got back from the cw was just overkill.
Also, Im new to the company so I understand the principals but just articulating them succinctly is proving a bit tough.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry nigel, I posted the previous then read your last post.
So I should start from the beginning.
Im redesigning the site and we have, in principal, agreed to keep it simple and uncluttered.
We sent text to the copy writer ages ago and in the meantime we've decided that it needs to be simpler. Copy writer came back and the text isn't great.
So trying to simplify it into succinct little sentences for each section is what Im doing, before I go hell for leather designing the site.
Also, we have some kind business management expert telling us what the tone of voice for the site should be which is kinda jarring with my thoughts, which is throwing up a block.

business management expert?

This is a link to a photo studio that I used to work at, they have a lot of that kind of copy

business management expert?

(May 18 07, 07:36)I know, I know. Not really sure what he does, but I already had the site 95% built before I was told I'd have to redo it.
Now im scratching my head at this...

Ian,
I'm no copywriter, and certainly no business management expert, but I'm very much an advocate of 'being true to who you are'. It seems that you, your expert and the rest of your company really need to agree on 'who you are' and once this is established, the copy will be much easier to write! Good luck - I've just been through a similar experience where I work and the new site took over a year to appear :(

ta for the support nigel, hope the site was worth it after that!
We have an idea, a strand, so hopefully i'll get there. Just have to kickstart the creative juices and coffee ain't doing the trick!
