    Ian,

    I'm no copywriter, and certainly no business management expert, but I'm very much an advocate of 'being true to who you are'. It seems that you, your expert and the rest of your company really need to agree on 'who you are' and once this is established, the copy will be much easier to write! Good luck - I've just been through a similar experience where I work and the new site took over a year to appear :(
