I'm ready to buy a good laser color printer but I've tried a few and I'm not very happy with the results. Any suggestions on brands or models?

i have been a fan of the xerox ones
but the ones i like are usually way too expensive

a colleague recommended an HP2600 and it sucked! I am looking for something not too expensive but good output and color quality. Maybe I should bump this sucka tomorrow morning...

Can't remember the exact model #, but my department at work just got a new Sharp at the beginning of the year, around $29K.
I'd really love to know the price range you're looking at, just curious what good printers are out there that are way less than this. It's one hell of a printer/copier and super fast, huge improvement over the Sharp AR-C150 we used to have.

what are you going to use it for mate?

We have an Epson Acuulaser CX11N - seems very OK to me. Doubles as a scanner, photocopier too!!

morning bump!
bigtrick: I'm looking for a printer for home (freelance). I need something that prints multiple pages with enough good quality that I can show a 'quick proof' to my client. I am avoiding cheap printers that look like they were printed at the local library.
I would say my budget is 500$ if that helps. Am I asking too much for this budget?

why not try the Canon Pixma Pro9000:

It's ain't a laser, but the quality is making me drool. This is a good midrange priced printer that can go as big as 13"X19".
- OSFA0
yes, the quality looks amazing. But I don't know if that is my best bet if I have to print 50+ pages at once... :(

you say laser printer, but you mention the hp2600 which is an inkjet. huuuuge difference.
the only budget LASER worth considering, IMO, is a xerox phaser.
- OSFA0
The one I tried was a laser printer...was it?
- acescence0
oh sorry, that is laser. they also make a 2600 inkjet. confusing.
check out the cost of ink, if it costs more to fill the printer with ink than the price of the printer itself, it is a bad value.
again, i will suggest a xerox phaser.

yeah I was checking the Xerox site and the 6180 looks good. thanks again mang!

Hey there,
In my current job we use a cannon NX-60 1100. It seems pretty good but prints really dark, solid cyan is way too dark and its hard to see the difference in subtlety between 100 and 80%.In my last studio we used an OKI it was great, lovely colour and really fast but it really guzzled the ink, supposed to be one of the more expensive ones to run.

please keep us posted with your findings--I'm also interested in this

will do.

depends how much cash u wanna spend.
Richo are pretty good, they dont break down much like HP or Xerox, and are alot cheaper to run per page... but i think they mainly only do BIG machines...

I have Konica Minolta Magicolor 2430 Color laser in my home office for just that purpose. It will be a year old this month. I got it for 399 US.
Upside. low price, great color, super vector output, decent toner life
Downside.: A touch noisy, my print driver only installs in Spanish (papel grueso, por favor) Only 8.5 x 11. My drum just got a permananent faint line through it...but I'm over 5000 prints...
Bottom line, I'm very happy with this purchase.
btw it ships with "starter" toners...only 50% full...bastards. I guess this is common these days to keep costs down.
