none of this means anything to me. Will I still be able to play my dvd's in my genuine £19.99 Yamatsu DVD player from the supermarket?

Dumbest topic ever. Who the hell cares who wins? Wait for a winner, but a player. Those who bought a PS3 shouldn't care if blu-ray fails or not because either way they still have a great gaming machine. Then they can go out and buy a cheap HD-DVD player.

(Jun 20 07, 05:45)but BB is a drop in the ocean compared to the porn industry, so whatever the perverts decides, wins.

in hong kong, blue ray discs out number hd-dvd, about 10:1 in the stores.

I think we'll all have players that play both formats. they already have some that do just that. I really don't care about the format, just that it looks good on the screen

The official word is that the 100 mill. is for the first batch. The complete order is around 300 mill. US dollars or approx 5-6 million HD-DVD players by the end of 2008.

el o el at this being a war, you guys realize people are dying in iraq so we can have the freedoms to watch whatever format we want to.

so you have some sort of axe to grind with sony then?

Me? Not really, I do prefer HD-DVD as more consumer friendly format yes, but I'm just transfering latest news. I have both PS3/Blu-Ray and HD-DVD w/ 360 however I have 32 HD-DVD movies and only 8 Blu-Ray..:)
It's interesting though that Fox pulled all of their scheduled Blu-Ray releases recently with the announcement that Blu-Ray had some DRM problems they were waiting to get fixed before they go ahead with the release, but with this announcement I'm fairly sure Fox knew this was coming and pulled back to see what will happen.

old news/speculation.
pr0n made the hd-dvd choice in january.

How is this old news speculation when press releases were published a few hours ago.
If you don't think that 6 million $199 HD-DVD players in Wall-Mart by 2008 is not going to win it then you must be smoking something right now.

nah, he's saying porno decided hd-dvd is where its at a few months back, and they dictate the format because they sell more of them than anyone.
- Boz0
oh..well I don't think that porn makes an impact as it did with VHS simply because back then there was no online porn.
Even so, this is definitely a final nail in Blu-Ray coffin.
