Anyone know of a good Web 2.0 Dbase System? One that would include a community, blogging, picture gallery, etc
I'm trying to help a friend out and haven't seen an off-the-shelf type implementation like WP or something.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
cheers!

Uh ... am I missing your point, or are you missing your point?

What is a Web 2.0 Dbase system?
Does it have a glass logo and a beta stamp on it?
- digilee0
it's a normal mySQL database but it produces big text and big text fields.
oh ... and of course a gradient, you can't be 2.0 without a gradient.
... but in all seriousness.
Take a look at Nucleus - http://nucleuscms.org

hahaha...
i knew 'web 2.0' would get a rise. that's not the point. and no it's not gradients and large text... that's why i spelled out the functionality he is looking for. he is looking for a base to build from and yes mysql is that; that was my point about off-the-shelf.
maybe this is the wrong place if we are still debating if large text is web 2.0.
no sweat...

large text = .... nvarchar?
I think as a Software Engineer I am just baffled.

yeah. the argument of if web 2.0 is large text or interconnecting information is quite simple. i thought my question was direct and to the point. i guess it was too much(?)
i hope someone comes along with the simple answer and not jabs...
o' well.
but maybe newstoday isn't what it was... a great resource of mature minds.

Well my usual answer to these things is make your own, but as far as you being concise and direct I imagine I have to check your profile to see if English is your first language.
By definition Web 2.0 is just that ... web. The back end has not shifted in any such fashion for the most part, it is simply how it is presented.
Creating a database that holds a Blog, Forum, Picture Gallery?
That is nothing new in the least. Sorry if you thought I was giving you jabs earlier, I simply could not fathom where you were coming from.
Get some more buzz words for your next thread, perhaps that will go better.
And yes, I do not know any off-the-shelf solutions, I guess because I am uppity and do create databases for a living, but I am sure if you use Google (http://www.google.com/), you will certainly find a few options that you will create more threads here about, having no idea how to utilize them as opposed to asking questions in their forums and expect non-condescending responses.

Visit:
Although I would suggest using Expression Engine which isn't free (for the fetaure set you're looking for - although they do have a free basic system):

i thought my response was both funny and practical.
I made a joke and then offered a mature solution.
I even linked to it properly for fack sake!
