I'm looking to purchase my first strobe kit & i don't want to invest too terribly much, no more than 2k. I wish I could afford Bron Color's but that's hopefully my next step. Does anyone have any advice or brands to avoid? I am looking for 2-3 lights & pack with stands & case if possible.
Thanks in advance!

Silly nOOb... stroh's isn't expensive at all. Unless you're buying it by the truckload. And if you are I'd suggest picking up a few crates of Toilet Paper while you're at it. Cause if you're drinking that much stroh's you'll be shitting like a goose.

tough to say - depending on were you are some product lines may be harding to find than others
i really like dyna lights - high quality small and very light weight. and i've yet to see a dyna light kit die. their a little on the more expensive side of things, but worth it

these suckers are dirt cheap - but are kind of junky. i know a few people who have them and say they work okay - but they do have a shorter life span.best thing to do is visit your local shops. i don't recomend buying on line. ALL strobes will die\need servicing, so getting them from a local shop will save you alot of trouble when that time comes....

thanks sickman! i remember hearing using dyna lights about 6 years ago, i couldn't remember which model the studio i worked for owned. Can you recommend a model number to look at? i'd like to get the most watts for my buck and still have room to pick up chimera softboxes, snoots & grids.

it all depends on how much your willing to spend and how many watt seconds you need. once again the best thing to do is find someone close by that has them in stock and go try them out.
buying new lights can be a royal pain - but once your have them its nothing but good times:)
