ive always been upset when i see elementary schools where they paint famous black people on the walls, never ONCE do you see jimi hendrix anywhere. what gives? and yet oprah is everywhere. regardless if he used drugs, he pretty much changed how people view the electric guitar and "black" music.
and this probably isnt related to anything here.

Ringside said it best on the first track of their self titled album

*taking huge chance
Carty is not a black artist, he is an artist.
that is the problem with this topic.
his work should not be pigeon holed by the make up of his skin, no ones should, it should be the character of the work

What is wrong with black american kids learning about their own culture? Absolutely nothing.

...in an ideal world nothing, but when taught by jaded and misinformed, possibly black racist educators, the direction we are actually traveling is backwards. white speculation only.
- mrdobolina0
jaded and misinformed educators?
please expand on that.

i KNOW that my white teachers weren't right in the stories they told me in regards to the indians
kind of like a we won/they lost disinformation service that had me believing indians didn't mind us being here
it wasn't until i grew up and educated myself that i realized my ancestors committed genocide
surely you have such hindsight on some topics taught you as a younger boy?
I would be ignorant to believe that is the only thing ever mistaught
- version30
tank i'm going to need a link for cpluv, i can't even figure out how to log in at that site

I agree about the indians.
But when frederick douglass gets as much play as Abe Lincoln does in freeing the slaves, cancel black history month.

(Feb 1 07, 08:18)Haha one of my high schools in the cafeteria had this fucking awesome mural of fucking musicians done by students back in the 60's/70's/
Hendrix, Joplin, Led Zep, The Who, Beatles, Et Cetera ...
That was awesome.
To bad I was only able to stay in that school for roughly 3 semesters, heh.

Too bad*
I didn't get kicked out because of grammar, haha.

Geezus!
How quickly we forget. Black History month was the brain child of Carter G. Woodson. Not as an effort to segregate or create other divisions between the races, but to recognize/cronicle the contributions and achievements of Black Americans.
Why?
Because until recently, the accomplishments by practically all non-whites in the US were oddly missing from the history books and daily publications. We have come a long way in our collective effort to clean up those "lines in the sand", but the disparities are still gargantuan.
I'm working on a project for an architectual firm which will cronicle the work of Booker T Washington and the construction of Tuskeegee Institute. The number of black architects and designers related to that project blew me away. I had no idea. The Tuskeegee
school might as well have been Wright's Taliesin school. The point here is that without BHM, so much of this stuff would be lost. I do honestly hope that it will one day be considered "redundant".
But until then...

that shapemould comment shit is BS, glad I thought cpluv sucked before, because i know it now
i'm not familiar with trapcode but i am familiar with photoshop, the gradient fill, and multiplying layers
that is nothing to write home to mom about or "feature" let alone defend with a dissertation
how do invitations to speaking engagements and designer circle jerks allow you the right?
I want to know what "issue" he had with NT? panties in a bunch anyone?
