You know... It's just dawned on me that I actually part with money to hear all about Jane Goody before breakfast.
Something must be done about this.

I'd be inclined to think the cost worth it, if they focused on interesting stuff like BBC4, rather than stuffing their celebs with pork fat and money (£18m for fucking Jonathan Woss?)

oh, so companies/groups/etc that re-broadcast or relay the signal for the bee will have an increase in fees? or will your personal taxes (that fund the bee in part) go up as well?

I certainly had that Value for Money feeling this morning
watching the news lady report from portsmouth dock whilst smiling throughout cheered me up afterwards...she is a professional!

They'll just put everything up madirish and we'll not be able to tell one hardship from another.

the fee will go up, taxes will go up, the level of services will go down and we will be expected to feel privileged to live here.
oh the joy.
:D

TV Licenses are actual bits of paper that we Brits have to purchase each year if we wish to have a TV in our house. They also supposedly license the Radio spectrum, but that's nigh-on impossible to enforce.
'They' have special hardware they drive around the country in, delicately probing each and every household, searching for contraveners.

(Jan 18 07, 05:58)Mm, and the money 'They' make from their foreign commerical arm - I'd love to know where that goes.

it's less than inflation
vespa
(Jan 18 07, 05:58)Pfft. You sound like Tony.
It might be "less than inflation" but "inflation" is controlled by the interest rates which JUST WENT UP!

I never watch TV, and I've had about 10 really arsy, threatening letters since July saying "your house does not have a licence and we will take legal action"!
...Does my head in, I don't watch it assholes! Not everyone watches your crappy/poorly acted & produced dribble. Get over yourselves!
*rant over :)

"it's less than inflation."
Only because we've got a record amount of inflation this year! :)
- moth0
Never mind.
Dire Straights - 'walk of life' just came on the radio. It's all worth while after all!

everyone loves to slate the bbc.
the foreign commercial arm subsidises the license fee.
the license fee covers 8 tv channels, ten anlogue and digital radio stations, bbc.co.uk interactive tv.
i'm going to sound like an asshole i know but britain should be proud of the bbc. i know it's not british to be proud but bbc news, comedy, documentary, radio, online, interactive tv, mobile services are amongst the best in the world.
everyone got sacked last year to keep costs down but all the whingers still can't help having a pop.

Another thing the govt should do is put tracking devices in cars and charge you for wherever you drive.. oh wait a second..
