I was going to see it over the weekend, however, while I was in East Juhbumfuck visiting my family they didn't have this in any of their theatres, haha.
I plan on catching it this weekend though, and especially after reading all of these posts!

visually beautiful... other than that, 2 of my friends walked out and saw tenacious D instead.... i wish i would of joined them.
yah i got it... yes it was emotional... deeply emotional actually..... but waiting for those moments through the whole film was too much.
left disappointed.

I found out about this movie a year and a half ago and have been waiting patiently for it and perhaps that helped to put my expectations to unrealistic levels, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.
I think everyone should read an article concerning the visuals of this film. No computer graphics were used (to make the visuals).

i heard about that... you got a link to this article?

The trivia for it is interesting:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0414993/…- In early 2002, writer/director Darren Aronofsky cast Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the central leads of Tom and Izzi with a budget of $75 million. During pre-production, Pitt and Aronofsky were having major creative differences, so Pitt left to film Troy (2004) instead and the film was shut down. In early 2004, with a smaller budget of $35 million, Aronofsky cast Hugh Jackman as Tom and Rachel Weisz replaced Blanchett as Izzi.
- Instead of using CGI, Aronofsky chose to do the special effects for the film by using micro-photography of chemical reactions on tiny petri dishes. He has said that CGI would take away from the timelessness of the film and that he wants the film to stand the test of time.
- Both Weisz and Jackman agreed to work on the film at a reduced rate.

Wired also has a great article on his new piece. He also said he was influenced as a child, skipping in and out of movie theaters, never really seeing the beginning nor the end and moving between modern films and period pieces...
Arronosky's films tend to be like watching a car crash, esp. Requim, tons of beautiful, technical footage and like a european film, the hero dies heartbroken and lonely at the end. i hope he does something more surprising this time around...

Pitt didn't do the film due to "creative differences". A decision he looks likely to regret, i'm sure.
Doesn't come out here in the UK for a while, but i'm looking forward to seeing it.

(Nov 28 06, 04:49)True, especially since he left to film Troy instead. But I'm sure Babel is keeping him in the film spotlight anyway.
