Nice Chief! Definitely sweet. And now that I see that Julie Benz is in the show I'm getting more interested...

good question. I think since he was taught to do the right thing (in the big picture), he will eventually turn him in or allow his sister to find him. I'm sure he'll want to protect his sister, and I'm also sure he would want to find someone to relate to but would eventually get rid of the killer (unless the killer is too smart for him, which is entirely possible).

Shoulda killed deb and his coworkers years ago, dumped that stupid kid on the in laws, and ditched town. This new dexter is so wussy

I really like the show so far. I don't get the schedule though. The new ones are supposed to come on Sunday night but Ep 3 has been onDemand all last week.?.
Anyone know why?

hey fate,,, check my post when this series first started. I think the same thing, it has to be his brother.
Another thing, does his sister bug the F--- out of anyone else or is it just me

what'd you think?

Haha, Ponyboy, I know what you mean. Poor Dex :(
The finale was great and the ending was hilarious, especially Dex's huge grin.
Deb is annoying but without her the show would be missing something. Plus, she proved to be a decent actress in the finale. I never knew it was the same actress as in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". She seemed a lot younger in that film. Weird.

They filmed a lot of this season in Huntington Beach, CA. One of the scenes took place where I went fishing a few weeks ago.

I laughed on the inside when Rita told Paul that Dexter spends most of his time in his "Laboratory".
Hehe...

...but then the show would suck.

ain't that the truth. :)This... btw... is NOT a show I'd let my kids watch... specifically for the way it relates to kids (Dexter's earlier self) and the way Dexter is 'taught' to handle his urges (which supposedly aren't his fault either...)...
But... if not for the fact that Dexter kills in such a sadistic manner... would he not just be another comic book super-hero like Spidey and Batman who kill ALL THE TIME?
It's this notion of him being a sadistic 'serial killer' rather than a masked vigilante in tights (but w/the same result) that keeps me absorbed to this concept.

It didn't deserve a happy ending. It isn't the ending i wanted, but i guess it make sense in some way.
- Disagree. He never gave up on himself before. Why now?CyBrainX

oh! How 'bout this?
The Ice Truck Killer is none other than they're (dexter and his sis) 'other foster father' of sorts - the Police Chief himself!
Think about it - the chief treats the two like they're his own children... then goes so far as to push for the promotion of the sister w/her LT so that he'll end up putting Dexter in some 'super hero' choice... Save the Family Member or let the Bus w/kids fall in the river? nahmean?
Also recall conversations amongs many at the precint in regards to Dexter and his Sis's father and his relationship to the chief - the LT is rather jealous of it.
So there it is... that's my prediction - the chief is sucking Dexter in and enthralling him so much that Dexter will probably lose site of someone close to him - either his girlfriend & her kids or his sister...
... either way - I feel as if the writer is moving us into a super-hero-like decision-making position for Dexter... that will enevitably end in the death of the Police chief... someone Dexter always thought was 'good', which will probably break Dexter emotionally too and really send him spinning...
btw... Dex's girl was suuu-eeexxxxxy as a Blonde, skinny... slightly creepy in an innocent "I've been beat and left for dead" sort of way... yes?

I agree with killing off Deb but at least she offed LaGuerta who is almost as annoying. I loved the end of two seasons ago when Deb catches him killing the religious serial killer. The debate about God was awesome too.
- +1monospaced
- I liked it more when he was a total creepy motherfucking killer, with irresistible urges to killmonospaced
- Now he just lets it go... very un-Dextermonospaced
- Watching him be a good father is boring.bainbridge
- agreed. I didn't have anything against the wife but he shouldn't have been married. It cramped my style too and I'm not even a serial killer.CyBrainX
- not even a serial killer.CyBrainX
- haha, yeah, emotional normal dexter is boring as shitmonospaced

I hope this season ends with Dexter faking his death, killing everyone who knew him, and taking off into the sunset on his boat or some shit, to continue killing under another identity.

Showtime and HBO both do early on demand sometimes. I guess it's a way to catch those viewers that aren't really into it yet, or the ones who haven't seen it. It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure how it's determined what shows or what episodes get early releases.

anyone see ep. 3 on sunday?
I've noticed plenty of shows as of late like to do the 'soothing music' to slow motion 'daydream' scenes...
The last episode ended this way, w/Dexter, his girlfriend and her children all gathered inside the car he just 'borrowed' from the impound...
... and of course... there's a tad bit of Dexter's inner-narrative to finish it all off... and done to a level of creepiness that I just can't wait for next week... I may even go and purchase the on-demand ep. 4 this afternoon...
and you can watch ep's 1 & 2 online now (if you're in america or don't have american websites blocked)...

Honestly .. I didn't even know this was the final season .. either Showtime didn't promote it that way or I just missed it. but it wasn't until the 2nd to last episode ended and the voice-over for the previews of the next episode said "On the Series Finale of Dexter"... and my reaction was... Jesus, Finally!!!
- or you don't care about the show?doesnotexist
- <maybe .. I just don't remember the promo package especially for a show that ran 8 seasonsRamanisky2
- and yeah the show lost me about 4 seasons ago but I kept watching hoping it would improveRamanisky2

I could agree with the theory that the ITC is Dex's brother because I think his brother in the book is the killer. So the creators probably integrated that part into the story by also making the brother Deb's boyfriend and changing some other things up to make it more interesting. I actually really liked this past episode.
Haha, I have to disagree about both female characters. I love Julie Benz because I've seen her in various other television shows and it's REALLY creepy when she plays a completely psychotic character because you can't tell, if you're just judging by her voice and appearance. Unfortunately in 'Dexter' she is pretty vulnerable right now, so this won't be one of Benz's better projects. But she still does a good job.
I thought Deb was annoying too, but then I realized that she's acting quite normally.
Dexter is questioning their one link- Harry. She knows that if Harry lied, there is a reason, and she doesn't want Dex to get involved, because she trusts Harry, and she thinks that Dex should too. She's also scared that if Dex finds that he has other family it will have an effect on their relationship. Deb is pretty much a hard ass around everyone except Dex. She doesn't want to lose him. It's a common reaction for adoptive families when a person who is adopted starts to look for answers. While Deb is Dex's only family, (that we know of at the moment), Dexter is also her only family. We already know that Deb is very insecure.
