So I just bought a new intel mac pro... hah (YEAH I KNOW). I am aware of the very serious CS2 problems... Should I even waste my time or should I just install windows as soon as I get it?
Thanks! Any feedback is appreciated.

Why? Take it back and buy a cheaper PC.

buy a shite-load of RAM, its the only way, mine actually runs fine now I've upped it to 2G
- JoshClancy0
I've got 4 gigs of ram
1 gig for four slots... so I mean ram isn't much of an issue... I just hate the fact that this could hurt my productivity and work load...Do you use a intel mac kelpie?
- kelpie0
I do, when my RAM was low it ran like a lame dog, you couldn't have more than 1 Ap open at a time, running anything by Adobe completely nutted the machine, but since I've put a reasonable amount of RAM in it runs well, I can eork between PS Illy and ID etc - you should be OK with your 4G :)

Thanks Kelpie that makes me feel a lot better. This is my video editing machine and I've got the new update for Final Cut Studio so I am just crossing my fingers now.

ooooo, that could be different ;) good luck

Oh and in response to Moth... I needed to scoop up my student discount before I graduated ;)... plus I had the money! I knew I could install windows so I just want to know if it is worth it even to run OSX... I think I might try it.

I'm just happy I dont feel the urge to post 'buy a pc' in every mac thread or vice versa, it seems like some kind of obsessive compulsion.

2gb of ram is a lot just to make it work. I would expect any machine to function on a single gig.
And remember you can put too much ram in - and if it's not being used it will be counter productive.
- kelpie0
aye, that it is - I would never buy a Mac for personal use, I just couldn't justify the cost - but now work has chmped up for the extra RAM I need to run teh expensive eye-candy machine they bought me (because it was eye-candy, specificaly) it does work well...

why does anyone care what kind of computer somebody else uses?

nice to see those records again josh. was that yr exhibit on quincy a couple of weeks ago?
- rasko40
I have no idea, but apparently it is of paramount importance to convert people to use the same machine as yourself. I see religious parallels here.

I DONT LIKE YOUR BRAND OF DEODORANT
- kelpie0
deoderant, much like the personal computer, needs a single unified format. Diversity is affecting progress
