Sad and shocking story. But above all the conservation and wildlife stories, I'll remember this the most. Classic ESPN commercial...

watching a beloved conservationist die in the water is another.

(Sep 5 06, 10:40)no it's not, life is life. death is death, it's what makes us all equal
i watched the birth of a human in school, i've seen my aunt give birth to my cousin in person, i saw edisons video of electrocuting an elephant and i saw some russian snuff film where a mans head is cut off with a knife while he gargles for life.
i could watch it, it's real. it's the part of life we tend to ignore the most.

--------------------------------...generally speaking, what's the point of watching certain things? have you considered that this philosophy fills the world with... well... garbage. If everything is justified just by being there then there's no point in anything.
- Witt0
I mean, that may turn into a dangerous philosophy since right or wrong are no more.

(Sep 5 06, 12:11)what's the point of living out my life if the only influence i ever have is the "safe" suggestion of someone else?

Witt, don't tell anyone, but we just had a mature discussion on NT. ;)
- Witt0

(Sep 5 06, 12:02)why, or how can, you watch all that.
it's emotionally incorrect and damaging and sort of flattening your emotions etc.
sort of like kiddie porn.
it's just wrong.
i once saw a bit of faces of death but it made me feel ill and i thought it was really perverted of me to see someones very very last moments alive (which is extremely personal) just out of curiosity. there's no other excuse for it, unless you are doing qualified research or something..
well, i learned this by seeing that crap once. don't want to again.
- Teeuwen0
same goes for beheading vids from iraq, or people falling/jumping from the WTC. i just feel it's wrong to look at it..

I was trying to explain this to my 7 year old daughter and she said "Awwww, so we won't get to see any more of his movies with the animals?"
Truly sad. Hopefully where Steve's soul goes, there are crocs he can still wrestle with. What a great dude.
RIP Steve!
