watching a beloved conservationist die in the water is another.

(Sep 5 06, 10:40)no it's not, life is life. death is death, it's what makes us all equal
i watched the birth of a human in school, i've seen my aunt give birth to my cousin in person, i saw edisons video of electrocuting an elephant and i saw some russian snuff film where a mans head is cut off with a knife while he gargles for life.
i could watch it, it's real. it's the part of life we tend to ignore the most.

(Sep 5 06, 12:02)why, or how can, you watch all that.
it's emotionally incorrect and damaging and sort of flattening your emotions etc.
sort of like kiddie porn.
it's just wrong.
i once saw a bit of faces of death but it made me feel ill and i thought it was really perverted of me to see someones very very last moments alive (which is extremely personal) just out of curiosity. there's no other excuse for it, unless you are doing qualified research or something..
well, i learned this by seeing that crap once. don't want to again.

its a shame, but as someone said...live by the sword....
I've been diving off Port Douglas, and there is no fucking way on earth Id dive without full body armour.
I've also stood on a stingray and the barb went straight through the side of my foot. Dangerous little fuckers.

same goes for beheading vids from iraq, or people falling/jumping from the WTC. i just feel it's wrong to look at it..

That is really sad news.
I can imagine him being pulled back into the boat though and enthusiastically describing just how one dies by stingray.

Hopefully they'll learn that groping wild and dangerous animals for televisions programmes gets you PRODDED BY TEH STING
- Baskerville0
It's sad that the animals finally caught up with him and he died filming a documentary.
Unlike the idot guy in GrizzlyMan, he didn't believe he was above the animals and in control of them, he always respected them. Too bad he wasn't quite careful enough. His wife's pretty crazy too though. I hope for their kids' sake she calms down a bit, they need at least one parent.

only 1 of 3 people to die from stingrays over here in recorded history apparently, unlucky.
At least he went out with his boots on.
- Teeuwen0
crazy guy, but with his heart in the right place.
terrible. RIP, Steve.

(Sep 5 06, 14:31)we talking about your penis again?
- Nairn0
"Let me just flip over this beauuutiful little critta - now, if I just stick my thumb up it's ars... aagh!.. gurggle... splutter..."
- Teeuwen0
he must have swum or rather hovered really really close above the stingray to actually be hit in the chest; about the only fatal location to be stung..
- paraselene0
that's a pretty cowboy way to go out, though. i'm sure he would have appreciated that.
- JazX0
that's such a sad story

Better than laying like a vegie with tubes all over the place in a hospital
RIP Steve!

People here at work are saying that they were shocked at the news, more so than when they found out about Lady Di's death.
Choice comment from the studio:
"he died doing what he loved, which one can't say about Diana, unless jerking off an arab in the back of a merc was her lifes metier"
