Do you like to see the image info before seeing the image or the image before the info? i guess it can depend but thats why ill add a show/hide details... so the question is answerable... so... info before image or image before info?

no no :)
ill try to explain again
right now the viewer part of my gallery works like this
http://www.windowsdesktopsearch.…
im gonna change it so it looks like this
it will have a show/hide details button but i cant decide if i should put the details/info above image or below it...
the reason im considering above is if the image is bigger you dont see it unless you scroll to the bottom default the info will be hidden but would you prefer the info above image or below when browsing?
another reason i like above is you dont have to scroll below image when reading the info

above

just so you know the details/info can be alot longer like a description... you still prefer it on top?

give me an example of the lengthiest description possible

right now its on the bottom like shown here
reason i think id want it on top is since its hidden as default a person can just browse the files with out being bothered and if they want the info shown it would be above it, so people prefer to read before seeing an image? then again if its hidden as default they see the image first anyway unless they keep browsing with details shown.

the length can be anything i have to consider it as the lenght being as long as it wants to be. but i cant image it being very long just usual tags you would like to see like description copyright stufff like that but you never know. :)

strange it doesn't show for me

this is an image of the new layout
the first thing you see is the navigation and file number Previous. Next. 1/20
then you see actions
Show/Hide details.
View actual file.
View catalog.view catalog is the new index button.
Show/Hide details. shows and hides the bottom text.
view actual file shows you the larger sized file.this is the current layout of the file viewer
http://www.windowsdesktopsearch.…i removed the above details cause they can just be added in the text file so if i dont want them i dotn have to ahve them.
anyway
the info will be hidden as default right and if you click show info the info will be shown even if your browsing...
right now i have it on the bottom
like shown here
bottom the text Windows Vista desktop background...
now im thinking if the scaled iamge is larger or dosnt have a scaled image and the image is large the info isnt shown untill you browse down which i hate cause i have to scroll
- twoismtwoism0
no its not that littel line your not paying attention that little line is now gone. and im not over thinking it...i have to consider it all...

Its all quite elegant, but you can't eaily tell whats a link and whats a title...
and to get even more pedantic.. is 'view actual file' really the correct term? We are already viewing the actual file (presumably downsized)... do you mean 'view at full size'? (or view the code? :P
- twoismtwoism0
i think it shoudl stay on the bottom. its gonna suck when viewing a flash file ill go the vista way:)
- twoismtwoism0
the links have a period after them... i was considering nodes beside the link but they would have to be images and if you increase text size they look horriable then i considered a branch like a horizontal line but i hate that aswell and i hate underlined text so no thanks....
View actual file is the correct term since the scaled image is scaled down and it can be different from the actual file....
I had View full-scale before but the scaled version dosnt have to be exactly like the actual file neither does the hint image in the hint view.
- twoismtwoism0
i dont use resize scripts they are bad for the server and they dont give you full control this way any file can have wuteva sized scaled and hint image and its not bad for the server...thats how flickr does it aswell but it makes the scaled down images when you upload but i want control over every size so... i dont have a upload client
- twoismtwoism0
fuck it ill put it on the bottom like it is now i think its better.

and if you cant tell something is a link and not text you have problems ;) cause how cant you tell by reading it.
