i don't want to sound like i'm just whining about the money :-) i can more than accept that the experience is what i'm trying to get for the next few years but still, i didn't expect to come out of uni and then take a drop in my earnings..
but i think from the replies here, that i've at least got confirmation that i should try to push them for more/go elsewhere..

Ask for £15k with a rise to £16k after the first 6 months. I started on 13k and that was outside London a few years back. DW did a pay review last year and claimed 18k average (junior) in London bare in miond you are jsut starting out though. If your good you will get rewarded.
in my head
scpgt = Scapegoat, True??

i started on £19k two years ago, outside of london. i left after a year and got a job in london on £22k - Flash design, not code.

Aye, thats about the size of it. If I didn't do freelance on the side I'd be fucked for cash.

Its more important to get your career off to a good start and get some good experience under your belt than worry about money. I'm sure you will be able to command a bigger pay packet in a year or two.
- kelpie0
go somewhere else then. your experience with them will get the other guys to give you closer to what you want. or just suck it up and work for them if you enjoy the work they do. None of us are buying ferraris here
- scpgt0
pants.
not good.see, i wasn't ever really expecting a massive amount straight away but my earnings for the past year (based on working for them part-time, another part-time job, and the odd bit of freelancing) are more than i'd get working for them for full time (doing a lot more hours)..
.

zero industry experience and 16k sounds fair. If you had at least six months on a fairly high profile job it'd be 17k. keep at it, work more, earn more.

I also started on 12k as a web designer...in Leeds tho. Been here two years and am on 20k now so as long as you show some progression they should up it after a while. A lot of places might keep you on low for your probationary period then whack it up after 3 months...
- kon230
12k-18k for someone fresh outta uni.
u might be able to squeeze more with your xhtml/css/flash skills though
- kelpie0
wee secret - I'm not in London, but I'm 4 years in this lark and my pay is a bit less than one of those numbers skt mentioned.
