'newt'... funny!
eh - the spending on this war IS outlandish and yes... plenty of other programs aren't getting the funding they need...
... but we must be intellectually honest too, dobs - war WILL create deficits... now - whether or not the war is justified is another thing all-together.
But if you want talk about a nice robust capitalist economy (in an idealist sense)... then borrowing TO MAKE money isn't a bad thing at all. That is what makes capitalism an open door for ANYONE to succeed. The option to borrow money makes it possible for people to: goto college, buy business supplies (computers - technology etc) and still lead a 'healthy' lifestyle.
Now if only everyone had the EDUCATION on how to live in a capitalistic society - then maybe we wouldn't fight so much. Capitalism is GOOD because it creates the NEED for people to work - it enforced self-reliance (something I'm very fond of)... but again - it's idealistic to think everyone is capable 'learning' how to live in a society where our work and contribution determine our lifestyle.

colbert is the man

who paid/invited colbert to speak? It's not shocking or suprising, it's what he does on his show every night...funny as usual, but nothing more than getting paid to do what he always does.

nothing more? with the president 3 feet away? having your own show is one thing, but you can't say there weren't some supremely awkward moments that couldn't have happened without the butt of the jokes sitting right next to him in front of a laughing audience.

This is brilliant - but I can't help thinking it's stage managed to provide the appearance of an avenue for dissent. To infer that democracy and free speech are as healthy as they ever were and all's still well in the Kingdom..
..but then, he doesn't pull any punches, does he? :)

(May 1 06, 06:11)haha good point!
may as well be totally staged hehe, to keep the internets crowds happy and silent..

erkle'n'jerkle.

stage managed?
Everything Colbert said was true but irrelevant, if funny. We think that making the president uncomforatble by telling the truth is a blow against the empire. Of course there is dissent- there just isn't any power. The GOP owns the government.

I admit it's not well written, but did you actually read what I wrote?

haha, nice.

fantastic! - but not legendary by any stretch of the definition - and furthermore - there were a few 'ambient cricket' moments that sorta bore me - alas - immaculate display of testosterone.
