how many people here actually use a 17" laptop? i got one at work and thought it was the coolest thing... until i had to actually take it somewhere. just too huge to drag around.

my 17" powerbook isn't too big to carry. stop being a wuss. it's still lighter than most PC laptops.

so do this have an s-video port or what?
should we wait for the next update on the 15?

yea i have had my 17" and its a first generation pb still going strong. I have to carry it around with me every day, and doesn't bother me at all...
*hugs PB*

I would still wait for later generations of the macbook though. As much as this one is taunting me.

(Apr 24 06, 08:08)same here. it's funny how people talk about mobility w/ the 17"pb's like they're too cumbersome. my friend's girlfriend just got a 15"dell and it's so thick. i've had my pb since 2002 or so and i've carried it to school almost everyday without a single problem. sure it's a little heavier than the 15" or 12" but the screen is so worth it. i can only imagine having one of the dual-core processors. mmmm.

so what ever happen to which is fast? PC vs Mac?
- acescence0
sure, toss your 17" pb in a bag and ride 15 miles on a bicycle every day, then sing the praises of your monolithic monster.
- Chief0
i ride 6 each way. we're talking 1.3 lbs more than the 15" pb. it's .6lbs more than a 15" dell. luckily my bag is just wide enough for the cushy protective sleeve i keep it in.

it's not the weight, it's the dimensions

I also have the first 17" PB, as adverrtised by Minime from just about 3 years ago. I spent a year carrying it to work with me. I would run with the thing on my back to catch a bus every once in a while and it was fine.
This thing about it being to hard to carry or hard to find a bag for it is just a total myth.

HELP! I'm having some buyers remorse. I just got the 15" 2.16GHz model 6 days ago (refurbed for $2299). Now that this 17" is marked at the same price as my model (non refurbed), it's pissing me off that they offer more but its the same price. Should I exchange it for the 17" model?
I don't care much for fw800 and dual layer writing tho. But the extra 20gb and 2" seems nice.
What would you do?
