Allstate was doing this already. They give you back money on your insurance if you drive safely for 6 months. It's the same type of spot.

I think the spots are excellent. Some of the best advertising I've seen in a long long time.
First, it puts the viewer in a position to relate to the lifestyle of their product, then it illustrates perfectly the benefit of owning their product.
I'm sold. Hell I might go buy a coupla Jettas this afternoon.

I love these waaaaaaaaay more than those stupid ass pimp my stupid commercials, shock value, suddenly the viewer has something to do with the commercail as well, its good shit.
Most people dont like the new cingular spots where they all of the sudden lose service, and the TV seems to be on mute, I like them a lot, it makes everyone in the room stop what they are doing and look at the TV to make sure that it isnt broken or on mute

(Apr 20 06, 09:37)OMG harlequino!!! you totally reminded me of why, how, and where I was driving when I had the most crazy accident. I was on I-35 driving from Dallas to Austin in my GFs VW JETTA!!!!!. Jeez, it WAS a VW!!! I was driving my GF at the time was in the passenger seat. We were in Hillsboro by then, no traffic, clear dry summer day, I was doing the speed limit 75-80 mph, there was a sudden rain shower and left large water spots in the highway. I hit a small spot and felt the front tires slip away from the steering then I hit a bigger spot a second later and the Jetta spin 180 and hydroplaned backwards so we faced the traffic behind us, we flew backwards onto the 75ft wide knee-high grass median and kept spinning about 3 more times, after about 150 yards of traveling out of control we saw that we were going to get hit and we braced ourselves as we shot to the other side of the highway, going backwards (thankfully) and vaulted up into oncoming traffic. luckly we just missed a semi and slammed into a compact car where a man and his daugther were driving knocking them clear off the road and narroly missing another oncoming car we stopped short of the next overpass.
In the end her car was totalled, nobody got hurt and we all walked away from that accident. But we did say more than just, "Holy Sh--- Safety Happens" it was more like "Holy Shit boy were we lucky..."
yup, the good old dayz....

The ads are great. I esp like the crashed car at the end of the spot instead of a shiny new one. Good stuff.

i prefer this one

I'll let the second commercial go because the conversation is more clearly oriented to the incident... "stuff doesn't sorta like happen..." and it's easier to understand. but the night time one catches me COMPLETELY off gaurd. and while... granted... we'd see this commercial time and time again and easily adapt to it... wow. that's pretty harsh.

i just about jumped out of my skin when i saw this commerical... scared the shit out of me like i was in the car.
whoa.

(Apr 20 06, 09:57)Eekins. Scary indeed.
In 1981 my mom and I were hit in the side on the autobahn in Germany. I was fine, but her hip was mangled amongst other injuires. After two months in traction, she could barely walk for over 20 years, and never really worked again. :(
Luckily she now has a monster titanium fuck-off robo-hip implant and feels better. :)Point is--those spots have a definite impact on those who have been in that before.

This ad would be more effective for me if they explained that the recent design changes to the VW linup is as a result of improved safety measures.
I still think the exterior design of the new VW's is lumpy, boring, shite.

in cp+b's eyes, it doesn't matter what you think of the commercials as long as you're talking about them. these commercials are being talked about EVERYWHERE.
- mrbee28280
i second that.. this thread proves they worked.... they created buzz. there is no bad buzz.
- pollypocket0
wow.
its not often that an ad actually makes you sit up a take notice.these are awesome and shit scarey at the same time!

What's up with all the accident advertising videos.
First Goodyear or whatever it was for, with people getting run over by cars and shit and now VW with accidents.
Btw, this is a rip-off from those Allstate commercials with accidents. Nothing really super artistic.
