they talked about these commercials this morning on the today show.
Katie Couric said that the commercial where interesting and caught her attention but didn't know if they convinced her to buy a jetta.....OF COURSE NOT!! YOU JUST SIGNED A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT WITH CBS WHY THE F WOULD YOU EVEN LOOK AT A VOLKSWAGON!!!!!!!!

Is it just me, or that one with the 4 people talking about crying at the movies then they get into the accident...
Are they not 4 of the ugliest people you have ever seen?!
I wish they actually got merked in that one. Ugh. The only thing that made my stomach turn was looking at their faces.

I thought they were well done, I especially like how they display the wrecked car at the end and the jump from when they say HOLY into the new screen.

It's effective, but under-handed and desperate, VW/CP&B have gone from destroying other manufacturer's cars in their ads to mortally shocking unsuspecting viewers to make their point.

Hummm, Don't know weather this puts out the message that you can walk away from every crash so you don't have to drive safely.
Interesting ad though.

het droevige ding is dat zij de advertentie door ICBC kopiëerden.
dinky
(Apr 19 06, 10:45)i think dinky made some reference here to the similar DUI ads ICBC (auto insurance) has been runing here the last year+ ...
i find their use of this same concept to raise drunk driving awareness more effective, plays into emotions more so than just selling another car.
they actually did a better job of setting up the accidents too.

Also the more we see these kind of crashes the more normal they will become and the shock value will diminish

I found the new VW spots to be a little disturbing as well. I got the message they are conveying pretty clearly but as a result I experience the car accident every time the ad comes on like it is my first time seeing it. I’ve never been a serious car accident but if I did these commercials would definitely have me reliving such an atrocious experience.

ha! if I didn't know anybetter, I'd say that CPB aped these american VW ads from ICBC... sooooo I see... that's how you win advertising awards....

(Apr 20 06, 08:50)yup.. that ICBC campaign is relatively small budget too, but i would say has been a big success locally.

it's the man - sticking it to the little guy!

i don't like the principle of advertising. but theses movies are very intelligent pieces of work. which is one more reason for me to dislike them.

Great ads. I work in auto safety every day... producing documentaries on the topic. These are probably the best safety-related ads I've ever seen. As opposed to just seeing a crash test done in a lab, these ads really put you in the driver's seat.
I also liked the Unpimp and Fast ads. I'm thinking I wanna get a new GTI.

awesome campaign, they needed something fresh like that.

I saw this one night. Its a bit graphic but its also very real.
effective in my eyes.

I like the new Kia ad. With the mime.
Makes me laugh.

Ok, I know they're safe, I owned one. But, shock value aside, it's a brave, brave spot.
