They'll never win.
Spastic was deemed derogatory, so the Spastics Society renamed themselves to "Scope". So yeah, you guessed it, within a day the whole of the UK starts calling each other "Scope" everytime they spit coffee down their chins.Oh I used to work in a pub with a real proper live-in spaz skt. He used to pull his dick out at the most inappropriate moments to wave at the punters. Never saw him lick windows though....

So, you knew a real life spaz and you have been struck by lighning. The chances of that must be infintesimally small.
- krust0
it's a sad world when we can't take the piss out of eachother freely, whether it be about skin colour, disability.. whatever.
yeah, there will always be low lifes who ARE racist, bullys etc.... but fuck them..
the world would be a better place without such political correctness.

(Apr 12 06, 06:30)i don't think it is really a matter of political correctness, more like how far you go. i am all for irony/sarcasm etc. even spaz or anything else, as long as it is used in a context where the humor is satisfying both sides. bullying is something else and needs to be treated very seriously.

about 6 years ago, I was using the term "retard" all the time. Then a dear friend finally told me it really upset her because her younger brother had cerebral palsey and people used to call him that all the time.
I used to have a "Go die" attitude to all this PC stuff, then when I saw some piece of it was actually hurting a friend of mine, it made it pretty easy to give up saying.
There are a lot of words after all.

if he said, " When I got to the green, I played like that guy!" - points to spastic window licker ...
then there might be an issue
- krust0
my point is that if all these terms weren't considered so derrogatory in the first place, we wouldnt have a problem, calling someone a spaz wouldnt matter because there would be no negative connotations with it.
theres absolutely nothing wrong or weird or even different about being retarded. just a qwerk, like freckles or glasses (anyone else watch CSI last night! - i'm paraphrasing grissham!)but i guess that will never happen because most kids are fuckers when they get in the playground.

The put-down for the year is calling someone a "cockems."
As in "Can't you change the channel back to wrestling? Don't be such a cockems, man."

I have a brother with special needs and I tell you there is nothing more entertaining than well educated, articulated people using the latest put down to describe people with physical or learning disabilities.
My normal response growing up was a punch in the mouth but I've mellowed a bit as I have got older and try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Either they are insecure, socially inept or just ignorant.
I then normally revert to type and threaten violence of one type or another.
