JP stopped being for struggling artists about 5-10 years ago. Rozzie, Mattapan and Eastie are for struggling artists now.

thanks for the input. Ya know, $1600-$1800 really isn't all that much from what I cant tell. I've seen some big places in Watertown (and one nice place in Newton) but mostly really nice places seem to be about $2k to $2500.
I'm moving to Boston! :)

My apartment is $450.
Jamaica Plain has alot of low rents and is kind of ghetto. It's very far away from the city and not that great. And if safety is an issue, the Orange Line is sketch.
Trust. $1600-$1800 is enough for something better than JP. That amount being "Not That Much" is very relative. "2500" is not that much to your boss, you know?

And Greedo's link, if u are cool with realtors, is a must!!
- billl0
you should consider buying instead of renting!

dude, i've lived in JP for like 12 years now, never had a problem, safety-wise. Besides having my car stolen three times, that is, in the space of two years. the orange line is only sketchy when the kids get out of school, at like 3pm every day.
Allston is way scarier when all the drunk college idiots fall out of the bars on friday nights.

side question:
where in the hell can you get an authentico Mexican burrito in Boston – like form a San Diego style burrito joint?
there are gourmet burrito shops everywhere, but I'm dying for the real thing
- billl0
tacos el charro was good... alas they have either closed, or are under new ownership... not sure
- billl0
or taqueria la mexicana in union sq slummerville
- designaked0
Tacos Lupita right down the street from Porter Sq. is good.

EL PELON for BURRITOS in Fenway on Peterbourough.
And Greedo, Allston is WACK. I never suggested Allston EVER.
1600-1800 you can live on Beacon street next to millionaires! You could live on Newbury Street!!! You could even live in the Green House in Copley with Sheik Al-Hassan's neice and a Greek heir to an Ouzo manufacturer!!!! Really, you can get sick places. $1600-1800 you have no business living in JP unless you really want to live in the hood in exchange for a bigger place. I never said Allston. Damn, I mean Brookline, Coolidge Corner, about the SAFEST neighborhood in the city, cool art house theater, Trader Joes, man... That's the spot Monkey, look in Coolidge Corner in Brookline. It's like living in a little european village.

Could not agree more with Red.

i lived in coolidge corner for a summer...it was nice....
kinda busy and expensive, but nice.
i still think apts in JP are nicer and bigger. whatevs. just reppin my hood.
Yeah El Pelon is really good, i actually really like Anna's Taqueria, but that probably isn't authentic San Diego anything. good bang for you buck tho.
- blastofv0
Annas Taqueria is very good for sure – that's been my fav substitute while looking for the real deal
Coolidge Corner is the spot – I'd say it's the best village on public transportation in the whole city
Coolidge Corner Theatre
Fugakyu
Green Line
Wine Bars
Bar Bars
young professionals
and you can walk to Fenway in 10 minutes

(Feb 28 06, 08:43):) I'm going to Boston! I love Newton. Does that make me a yuppy nerd? Must be getting old.
- RedFoxxworth0
Don't do Newton unless you are planning on starting a family.
- mattyd0
god grew up in west roxbury.

Charlestown is decently priced and no college kids. I can walk to the North End in 10 minutes, downtown crossing in 15-20.
