Yes, Nic, I do, but most of the time I let good work alone, to traverse the award sites and blogs and garner community praise. If it's good, you should know it's good. It goes without saying.
This is a case where the quality of work (i.e. the site, not referring to the body of work) does not go without saying, it's debatable.

bollocks

why do some people get angry at someone elses work that's 100's better than their own?
- fate_0
Bollocks nothing, there's isn't a thing wrong with pointing out the sillyness of Orchestras, life stories, and massive multicolored AE Particle effects swirling about.

im not angry im just saying its not for me

it reminds me of the kid wh would explain his piece in a crique for 45 minutes

(Feb 15 06, 11:10)while you should have any opinion you wish, this is the most subjective aspect to *anything*- and a poor way to defend your stance. to argue that everyone simply "knows" one thing is good and another is not that is crap. the reason we all have jobs is directly attached to this arbitrary opinion.

lol "critique"...
going back to bed now

madirish, I think my explaination is basically my reason for not starting a bunch of love, luck and lollipops threads on the great work that is out there. I just figure everyone else knows it's good because of the awards, the PBS posts, the NTB certs, the other forums talking about it.
But if I disagree, and offer criticism, then it seems I only have a negative attitude, which isn't the case, I just don't express my positive attitude because I internalize it.

If you're calling me milquetoast, fine, I'll take it a step further and just not offer my opinion on things on NT again. People take things too personally.

i respect that fate_ and 99% of the time do the same thing. that was not at all what i was saying about your explanation.
just because it is posted somewhere, by a certain someone, on a certain site makes it automatically good? i highly disagree. to say it is "obvioulsy good and everyone should know it" is just silly IMHO. i respect the fact you don't dig dave's online portfolio for the reasons you gave, but it is the other quality you justified it with that is just a cop-out.

If I don't say I hate it, I like it. That's my general feeling.
Dave has some nice work. I didn't mention that initially because it rather goes without saying, so it seems just like flattery to me, lipservice or "me too!". But he does have some nice stuff up. The site, however, I do not care for.

this thread reminds me of nopattern ;(

That's seriously good stuff, it's a million miles away from my personal design preferences (although I like some of the logos) but the technical level and the organised and applied thinking that's gone into it are superb...
