My Skater-Dater era old man and his friend were getting tanked up one afternoon when I was a kid and found an old solid wood plank with clay wheels and ball bearings, rolled down the playground hill sidewalk, concrete seams and all, and didn't suffer any injuries other than my mother's consternation, m'boys.
moral of the story: skate away

I'm too old, if I fall, I'll be sore for a month, whereas before it took an hour.

I've been on a two year hiatus from skating and having contemplating getting back into it... I used to session at the vans skatepark in orange fairly regularly but since moving to Pasadena I've been lazy. I 've heard the Glendale skatepark is nice but nothing beats the combi at vans...

i used to go a lot higher on that frontside into the square... up around tile level until i gotpitched and shattered my scaphoid(small bone in wrist) and it required a titanium screw to be inserted so i could get full motion in my right hand back.
the video was about 4 months after rehab... no wrist guards either! i was actually wearing wrist guards when i broke it a lot of good they did.

jonny- that Face To Face brought back some serious memories!!! man, that bowl looks crazy!- that's @ the orange county park?

it's a recreation of a famous pool that used to be at the old pipeline skatepark in upland californai. it's called "the combi"because it's a combined square and a circle. legend has it chris miller was doing an air over the square coner back in the day on the original. when h locked his rear truck up on the coping slammed his face on the bottom and was knocked out for an hour... i've met guys that have said they saw it but i only believe my friend Brian who used to work the gate up there in the badlands... he said it was the worst slam he ever saw and he was unconcious and the next day Chris Miller couldn't remember anything about it.
Talking to people who rode the original I guess this one has nicer transitions but the shallow drop in square in isn't as big as the original.

You can find it at the Vans skatepark at The Block at Orange. Orange Ca.
I recommend early afternoon sessions during the week the place gets crazy at nights and weekends.

Face To Face was the shit...
They way Matt Riddle played the bass blew my mind... so fast and I swear his strings were so loose you could hear them twanging of the frets... crazy. so cal punk was amazing.

wait how did facetoface get started up in this thread - one of my fav bands ever...
