it is shrewd. Iran's in a stronger position now than it has been since before 1978. They aren't scared shitless of anything. Ever since 1979 the Iranian leaders have seen themselves as the vanguard of Revolutionary Islam. All their moves are calculated specifically to dominate the Gulf and the Middle East. They are exploiting differences of attitude between the Muslim world and the "West" in lieu of this. With the holocaust cartoons, they aren't just exploiting a loop-hole in the sanctamonious idea of freedom of speech, but are attempting to place themselves as the mouth-piece of Muslim incredulity. Whatever you might think of the moral reprehensibility of their actions, politically it is well calculated.

do you honestly think that now, at this juncture, the US could mount any sort of strike against Iranian nuclear facilities without enflaming worldwide outrage?

worldwide? no. I'd wager that many nations would breathe a collective sigh of relief. Assuming they indeed destroyed legitimate nuclear facilities.

has anyone here actually been to Iran?
or is all this deep knowledge of the country/region from CNN?
- KuzIV0
they have an awesome cinematic tradition too, those Iranians. Mahmalbaf and Korastmi are two of my favourite directors eva!

Well, dropping a nuke on iran will do a lot. after the environmental holocaust, the survivors will love us! The only way to get thru all of this is to somehow get through to the population and let them see how they are being manipulated. It is amazing that Iran, and other countries that have very low social welfare programs seem to have the money to invest into a nuke program. India? Pakistan? WTF? People are starving in their tracks, un educated, and piss-poor. Why doesn't anyone think about that in those countries and try to hold a revolution against these idiots?

when u go to the middle east, the law of the land, for one, is for women to wear headscarves, and foreignors obey the law -
then, when the West exercises ITS law of the land, forbidding headscarves in school, and for drivers licenses, we bow to the pressure of the primitives/ islamists preaching it insults them
they want want want everything their own, twisted way
FUCK THEM
