I should note I am still not extremely happy with the blue text up top. Ideas about that would be wonderful.
- version30
it does not say dance

I would maybe have the blue text in the same colour as the band of blue. Or the orange or green. And maybe make it a little stronger.
I don't like the text in the bottom right either. I would maybe swing that round (and it's orange box) to read at the same angle as the top text.
Nice though.

it doesn't say dance.
By the look of it, I feel it's a poster for a Small Squash tournament taking place at some gym.
How about adding something some organic forms, like.....Humans!?

make the court some really rich, dark wood or just some kind of wood. typo on wood always looks badass

what is the actual size?
it reads very well at its current.

Intended to be printed 11x17

And yes, I need to some how get more 'dance' in there. I'll prob end up scheduling another shoot to get some mammals in there. Loke the wood idea as well.

nice start. good ideas you got going so far, but you can make it better!
i might make that text with the people's names in the lower-right horizontally aligned rather than vertical...its hard to read all of that stuff when your eye has to keep going up and down!
also maybe lose the blue overlay on the "translations" text and go with a solid fill. i would say find a way to make that text stand out just a bit more.
If you make a nice box to go around your date/address text (like allthe other text) you would sort of visually box in your court and ball subject and perhaps create a single focal point where the viewer's eye can be drawn.
i don't know..i'm probably just full of hot air. hope that helps some.

Ummmm...maybe some Patrick Swayze?
- epill_0
what type of dance is it going to be?
- monNom0
the details should be easy to read (eg. horizontal)
otherwise you're gonna have a lot of people standing on one leg trying to read.
might want to mention what kind of dance too.. sock hop? rave? formal?

now this says dance...

nobody puts baby in the corner...
needs more dance.

that needs more racquet ball.

more movement for sure, for a dance party. crazy, arbitrary design elements (because dancing is crazy). also, the side text reminds me of trainspotting. dont know if that's a good or a bad thing, just wanted to throw that out there.

Thanks everyone for the comments and jokes thus far. This is actually a modern dance at the university level. You know, the type of dance people can get degrees for. Various piece installed into racquet ball courts. Wierd maybe. Think of it as an installation.
I have stepped out for supper and a little sause. I should be back to work on this soon after that.
Thank again for the remarks.
