Which is better for a professional document/card? I usually use Ms., but anyone know the rules behind forms of address? I suppose it could also be according to personal preference.
Thanks.

I use Miss for girls under 16 (nieces) and when trying to get someone's attention when i am at a restuarant or store (the male servers really hate it). Ms. for 17+
but i don't know if there is an actual rule.

miss is for a woman who has never married
ms. is for a woman who has married but is now divorced
i believe
wait. scratch that. reverse it.
- mayo0
the way you had it makes much more sense to me _salisae_
- Jaline0
yeah, it makes sense. But now I'm really confused.

ms. is not for a woman who is divorced - tahst nonsense

Miss is usually used for little girls
ms is for older women. and can be used if they are married or not (such as if you do not know)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ms.
Ms. or Ms (pronounced /m?z/ or /m?z/) is a title used with the last name or full name of a woman. Unlike the more traditional titles Miss and Mrs., it does not bear any reference to the woman's marital status, as Mr. does not for a man.

Use "The" and you're set.

I know she just copied and pasted, but it's just not right to see a post from tehgee that's readable and typed correctly.
:P
