tell the client to fuck off and that you have more important things to do like wash your hair or something!
- uberdesigner0
remove your logo link
- kyl30
tell her in an email that you had hoped they wanted a 'professional', and paste all these very constructive comments by other 'professions'.
Hope ou got your 50% upfront.
- kyl30
well you got your logo and credit line at the bottom so it can't be that bad? right?
- eficks0
yes i got 40% upfront.
and yes I will be removing my link too. but it looks like it might not be getting finished anyway.
- kbags0
Who's the ad wizard that came up with that one?!?
- seed0
Man at least tell him that with those section titles moving back and forth noone can focus enought to read the text. Part of your job is the educate them, no?
- CockDiesel0
the simple response to give to the client is:
it looks cheap and tacky... and it will repel customers.
If you can't take care of yourself, how do you figure your going to help your customers ?

nothing so bad as a client that emails the site to friends for review.
OMFG, i had one of this kind..
finish the job, take the money and run..
then puke in the toilet, take an ice-cold shower, say a prayer for every design-sin you made in that site and make contact with Lucifer to demand a place in Worst Clients Hell for this client of yours.
Let karma do the rest.

Does anyone know how too get Coffee out of the keyboard because I just spat mine all over the place seeing that site.
I know it's not your fault, but man that is awful. it made me a little motion sick..
The client sounds very un professional and I would finish job but make sure you take your credit off..
why do people like that higher a designers???
- jimeeboy510
can you ask your client what site inspired her to go with that idea? i'd like to see this. and did she also tell you what her friends thought about it?
- flickster0
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
Take the money and run... and tell no one that you have any association with this site...
in fact, I'll just pretend, as I am sure everyone else here will, that you haven't enen brought this shite to our attention.
Although it is a brilliant example of what not to do.

I think it's great, love the pizzazz dude.

I dont' think it's unusual for someone to show their friends. As a matter of fact, I'd say 50% of my projects, whether web or 3D end up getting some forwarded email from someone I've never been introduced to and have no idea what/why they are involved.
Just part of the game. It's like buying a new tailored suit, you will ask someone with you what they think.
There are a few things that I don't understand. Clients always ask for specific things, but did they hand you a template and give you references for those moving titles? It just seems many clients want something 'snazzy' and 'cool', usually bad stuff they've seen, but if you show them examples of good motion and why it's good, you can usually bring them back in.
Go on and on about sophistication and timelessness, and, most importantly, how it'll make them look better.

I just had a small seizure from looking at that link...
- eficks0
shit! she cancelled the agreement, but ripped the files from my site and is using it anyway. what can I do get the rest of the payment>!?!?!?! she owes me about $900 if she uses it.
- mbr0
Good luck getting the cash. She's obviously aware that you could have taken it down. I assume it's only swf files online? That's certainly one nice thing about Flash.
Send her an invoice for your time, and keep sending it, calling, etc.
You could send a collection agency after her, but for only $900....I'd be happy you got 40%. Next time ask for 50%. If it's a larger site, do something like a 30,30,30,10. That way you can't lose too much.
Good luck. Bad clients suck and there seem to be no shortage of selfish folk with aweful taste.
Oh, just make sure they don't keep your logo on there. Most likely, she'll run to another designer. I had that happen once and it sucked. Took all the general ideas but the guy had no design sense...just sucked.
- Visia0
I'm assuming that you've already gone through all the typical "no, that's a bad idea because . . ." stuff.
So, if they still won't listen to you then fuckem.
They're obviously bottom-feeders. I mean, their company is a pyramid scam so don't waste your time. Finish the gig, take whatever money you can get from them and then forget about them.
They will fail, they will always fail. People that run shit companies like this are too fucking stupid to understand the principles of design so don't try and save them.
