iTunes is a bit of a slut; what programs do you folks use to play, organize?

(Nov 3 05, 17:08)can't stand the managed itunes library and never use it. i just create a new playlist every month and use it to dump and sample my incoming mp3s.

Yes I back up. I have all my files burnt to DVD's for back up.
For me, I use iTunes . I type the name- there it is- GO. I got everything organized exactly how I want it, playlist after playlist- crisp and clean.

bout 20gb, 99% duplicate free too. All properly tagged too. I DJ using Serato on the side so I only keep shit that I play or listen to. I hardly have albums, mostly singles. Everything else goes to the trash. How the hell do you guys manage 50+gb's?

itunes... seriously. Most of my music, believe it or not, is mine, or promos I get regularly. I do have a collection of singles from the Napster days but I cleaned up all the tags years ago. With itunes all I have to do is type in the first few letters of the song or artist and there it is. Plus I use smart playlist to organize by genre, or mood, or rating, or whatever- all my 250GB are available on the spot with a first clicks.

I have 9,514 which is ~ 58gB on a 60gB iPod. Most of which I posted at FMTs over the past 2 years.
Not to brag, but I'd throw my iPod up against the best of them.
Happy listening.

thats gnar gnar. but really, about how many dupes do you have? and about how many of those songs just do you not like, but just leave it there?
- JazX0
none. I kill my dupes and only import individual tracks. do you pay attention to FMT?
- KILLputer0
I can honestly I say I love or at least like most of the music I have. I haven't bothered to inport the songs and albums I do not enjoy.

what a stupid thread. who cares.
uberdesigner
(Dec 2 05, 17:22)apparently quite a few people.
- JazX0
who the fuck imports entire albums, that's stupid if you ask me
- KILLputer0
why is that stupid? I LOVE many entire albums. Not doing so is like reading half a book... I like the full story.
You mean to tell me you do not have one entire album inported. That is not stupid I suppose but sad if you ask me.

(Nov 3 05, 17:37)i used to snoop around the FMT threads, but theres just too many to go through and not enough time. i wish there was a site for everyone to just dump their mp3s into and have it auto update a playlist....cough.
anyway, theres lots of go-happy people that like to get entire albums...but its a huge waste of space if you ask me.
- jimeeboy510
to rephrase my comment, importing entire albums that you do not listen to is a waste of space.

But serioulsy I only have about a gig. I listen to internet radio more than anything. I get bored of my tunes fast.
canuck
(Nov 3 05, 16:47)same here, except I have about 2G's, that why I'm not buying an iPod or anything. As nice as it is, it's not worth spending that much money for having less than 2G's of music.
Sometimes I even resist listening to my favourite songs, b/c I don't want to get bored of them quickly (as I do with everything, especially music).

I paid $82.00 for my last 250GB drive. I pay nearly nothing for all my music. By importing the full album I can experiment with playlist and tastes. I might prefer one track over the next on different days. My favorite track might not a friends favorite track.
For example, on my last broadcast here on NT people asked for tracks I personally do not prefer over other ones... since I imported full albums I had the songs they like available..
It cost pennies to do so and it's nice to have.
Just my opinion.

not to mention the library I am working on for my parents
prob another 20k to be colllected there

well hey if you want entire albums go for it, but generally speaking you find one to three good songs on your average album which takes up space if you are holding the rest of the tunage.
do your own thing though..
