So I have been living in Manhattan for 6 months now, and I still dont like it.
I dont understand whats going on. I thought I would love it. But the only thing I love is my job.
This city like robs you, beats you up, and throws you in the corner and leaves you there. Its so hard.
I was a lil social buterfly in Philly, And I've made attempts here, going to shows, resFest, films . . .but its like no one wants to know you here.
Anyone else have a tough time their first year in the city??

what happened?!

Yep. Not knowing anyone is always hard.
It gets easier once you meet a few of them and realise they are all cunts anyway.

The thing is. . .good friends take time.
And I am picky with friends. You know how girls can be.

i think when you move anywhere new it's going to be tough. what about the people you work with? i realize work and personal life can sometimes be annoying if mixed, but who knows...

oops sorry. your a girl. and american. You really won't like that kind of language.
It took me a good year to start enjoying London. Just give it a bit of time. then maybe a wee bit more.

I've been also living in NYC for about a year now and got "lucky" enough to work with people who socialize a lot in that artsy/snobby scene.
So that made things really easy for me, you end up seeing the same faces everywhere and i can now totally take people for what they are... which can also be fun :)
But I was also thinking about moving away. The city is so expensive it's ridiculous and if you want a nice place and need to work a lot, you don't get to enjoy any aspect of the city, so it seemed really pointless for me to stay.
Then i went away for a month and i started missing it badly .... o_O

it's harder now. the crowd changed since i first got to the city. people were more open, more edgy back then.
i go out, meet people. but everyone wants something from you. everyone is acting like they've got something to prove. everyone thinks they are better than you. they are all full of themselves. well i am generalizing but that's what i get usually on night out.
well, it's been 8yrs living here. i think about peacing out. i am not the person i knew back 8yrs ago...

How about everyone moves to Atlanta?

Sounds alot like London. It took me over a year to find freinds. Although, once you met one others soon come along.
Try going to evening classes or join a sports team.
