not sure. a 'good' super 8 is almost more of a personal preference as far as features and record quality. some look for that very gritty basement look and some want a more refined look.
they all produce different filma. onw thing to keep in mind is that film and processing is Expensive!

yeah they sell them next to the kodak disc cameras in aisle 7 at crap-depo.

Be sure to check if the camera your buying has film magazines available that still fit it.

yeah, do your research about getting the film processed first. It can be very expensive and time consuming. Perhaps a 16mm would be better. Maybe a little more upfront but you'll probably save more in the end.

anything film related is $$. it pretty much why I got into design, something from nothing

6 weeks to have it developed? thats long time! I might going to check out the 16mm ones

DONT go to a photgraphic or 'retro' shop as you'll pay a fortune for one.
CHECK OUT local car boot sales. soemtimes you'll get opld grannies selling the camera plus everything else with it like projector and sometimes you can pick up loads of random old films too that they want rid of (great for random footage).
Getting the films developed is a bit pricey but is easy enough to do. its all done by kodak by post :) well handy. And no way its 6 weeks. mines was a week or two.
I got some good results once from scanning in a section of the film on a scanner and looping the sequence.
Have fun. they are great toys.

i got a super8 at a tag sale.
the film was still in it, i'd love to get it developed.
what is the process for this? send it in to kodak? anyone have specifics?

Funny Killputer...that's where you were concieved.
Yeah you send your film to Kodak - they send it to Switzerland, and in 6 weeks you get it back. Yikes, what a hassle.

I shot a 20 minute film on super 8. After all the costs were added up, I could have done the same project in 16mm. Plus there were more resources for 16mm. Super 8 is cool, but you wont save money.

this thread had a 50/50 chance about discussing sleazy motels.
