from CNN:
"So, imagine you're the poor person who decides not to evacuate: Your house will disintegrate around you. The best you'll be able to do is hang on to a light pole, and while you're hanging on, the fire ants from all the mounds -- of which there is two per yard on average -- will clamber up that same pole. And, eventually, the fire ants will win."

hhaa that's not a good thought

lol @ mrdobolina.
WTF is up with the newscasters and this storm?
I was watching Geraldo on FOX last night and he looked near trashed, his eyes glazed over in some sort of trace. He was going on and on about how the streets of New Orleans would be filled with floating dead bodies and toxic waste and so on. Dude has lost his shit. I known the media has a sweet tooth for death and destruction, but with each passing event, they grow more bizarre and grim. I'm not sure which is worse, this hurricane or the freaks covering it.

It's a terrible scenario all around. I'm hoping and praying that it ends up doing less damage than predicted.

A few years back my best freind and brother got arrested in NOLA for a little pot residue. Holy crap, what a nightmare. They were calling us every three minutes from lockup, protecting each other's asses, getting their prison issue mealkit stolen - so they didn't eat for three days "No mealkit, no meal", etc.
No lawyer in NYC would help us out saying - "Gee, your friends got arrested in the only place in the country where the lagal system is different." So we had to hire a local guy. Man, we got shafted, my bro got shafted. hella dollars. It was old boy's network all the way. Over pot residue.
NOLA can sink into the sea as far as I am concerned.
Oh cool the stadium roof is flying off...

One journalist just used a terrible line in that video article on CNN... "The Superdome could not withstand the force of the Super Storm..." *shudder*

NASA's got it covered the right way: http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth…

In recent decades, the theory of uniformitarianism has been modified to reflect the discovery that catastrophic events occur today and have occurred in the Earth's past. The present is still the key to the past, meteorite impacts, giant earthquakes, tsunamis, and explosive volcanism occur today as they have in the past and these events provide punctuations in an over-all gradual process.
