Sure I was drawing the kiddy stuff...but I was totally into letterforms...used to love to draw the STP logo from Richard Petty's Nascar, circa 1978. Then evolved into bubble letterforms in the early breakdancing era, like 1985-ish.
No offense taken, this is the NTB right?...a bunch of "smart ass" designer types.

i wanted to be a designer as soon as a had more than one cell. i was born with a pantone tag attached (467). i pood pixels. i trademarked my imaginary friends and deconstructed all the castles in the sandpit.

it was a hobby while i was growing up, drawing and creating skateboard graphics starting in 1987. Now, it is still a hobby and I get paid for it!!

I honestly got into design because I knew I would be able to wear jeans and trainers to work and listen to music all day.

Where's kona today?
Because I just know his answer would be "I design because there's no money in professional buttcheek henna tattoos."

I wanted to make people happy - and I wasn't good looking enough to be a man-whore

I'm a webdesigner. Does that count :P
In which case I got into it because I focused on digital & interactive art at university.
But it is nice having your work reach a large audience, even if it is pushing a product.
