Happened to me once after I had spent all afternoon loading my mp3 on it. Hasn't done it since. Just reset it and it will be fine. If it happens alot just take it back. It still under warranty?

This is my third time getting an Ipod, now on the black one, and now happy, but your problem might be because you travel alot, on a plane, or xray machines going in and out of places. If it still has a warranty, move yours and take it to a store, they ll be helpful i m sure. best of luck

You serious? Cuz that is when mine locked up. The next morning at the airport. What do planes and x-rays gotta do with it?

My sits in a drawer at home. Goddamn battery doesn't charge. Just been too lazy to bring it to an Apple store.
*Is Apple still compensating people with the iPod battery issue???
- koolbavaria0
arinya, yep the last two died on me like that, coz i travel all the time from the US to europe, back on forth. I'd say the pressure and x-ray machines mucked it up coz i see no other reason. hope you can get yours fixed
- arinya0
well I dont travel much but that is good to know. Guess I'll be leaving mine at home from now on. it hasn't frozen up again yet.....
- koolbavaria0
what good is an ipod if you have to leave at home without being able to take it with ya. take it with ya, sue the airport and airline co coz they cant pressurize the indoors shiiate :-) dont worry its just a machine

Traveling Tips
When traveling with a computer, protect it from shock, heat, moisture, radiation, and theft. Special hard-shell shipping cases are advertised for most Apple products. These cases can protect computer products from environmental abuse. In addition, they often do not look like computer cases, and usually escape the notice of thieves.
X-rays and other magnetic radiation associated with X-ray machines only pose a slight potential danger. Most airports X-ray all luggage. If the risk in losing software or data is too high, back the files stored on your computer's hard disk.
Due to concern about computers and floppy disks going through security scanners at airports, the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) conducted a study on X-ray induced damage to memory devices, including audio and video tapes and floppy disks. They found that the devices usually have enough shielding to protect the media. The study found that the magnetic field was actually strongest around the scanner's monitor. They taped a disk to the monitor for several hours without damage. A committee member suggested that it would take at least 1000 million passes through the machine before any damage would be evident.
