and help him with After Effects tutorial/reference books to take him from begginner-to-megastar in a week?
Have never used AE b4, but know other Adobe/Macromedia products well.
Looking to do broadcast quality graphics, rather than animation or film compositing.
beers and cheers,
lucky

hey. it's sunday. someone will respond soon enough. have you looked at the adobe books: http://www.adobe.com/misc/books.…
they are generally good if you're starting out. i don't use after effects so don't have any more insight.

have liked the Peachpit press Visual Quickstart/QuickPro format in the past....

i don't really believe in mastering software in a week, seems more like a matter of long term experience, i even find fresh approaches in software that i have been using for years.
But if i read about an app it's usually limited to the manual so i can't really say much about the learning process you want to take.
If the people writing those books were real masters, they probably wouldn't be writing books. At least that's the idea i get when many developers complain about the errors and misconceptions in such 'tutorial' books.

obvious maybe, valueable, not so much.
of course i can't learn AE in a week, but I need a good start if i'm going to spend years getting to a good standard.
ya dig?

what my friend lucky is saying is that while a week is not enough to master the intricacies of After Effects, it is enough to get enough of a toehold that he will be able to go on to master it in the future

fo' sure i learnt the basics in an evening.

master parenting, after you get the basics, and you'll go far.
