i don't really believe in mastering software in a week, seems more like a matter of long term experience, i even find fresh approaches in software that i have been using for years.
But if i read about an app it's usually limited to the manual so i can't really say much about the learning process you want to take.
If the people writing those books were real masters, they probably wouldn't be writing books. At least that's the idea i get when many developers complain about the errors and misconceptions in such 'tutorial' books.
