be happy you don't shoot digital, they probably would have taken your camera or at least the memory card.

Sucks that you lost your film :(

And remember that you'te doing good job of supporting the system which is sustained on tourist money only. If it weren't for western tourists, those people woluld be free for long time. Don't let the human zoo end, keep coming to Cuba.

Agreed. Go there and remedy those perceptions you may have. It's a truly remarkable place with a unique history and outlook. The people deserve more though.
May I strongly recommend this:

Shit, I'm afraid you're not kidding! Have you actually met someone who lived in Cuba or you get your knowledge from a spoiled rich director? Every westerner coming there and leaving his dollars/euros prolongs those people's oppression.
For us it's "i lost all the nice photo´s" , for them it's daily terror.

Dude, Cuba's gettin pounded by Dennis! Hope you brought your umbreller.
- mg330
Yah, I was just kidding. I've heard great things about visiting the country.
- Hym0
shaft i think you are projecting the rather negative experience Communist Soviet occupation had in Poland on Cuba.
In ideology there are similarities but it's a lot more complex, Many of the so called facts about the Cuban situation are just American proppaganda that didn't die after the fantasy cold war was.
Do not judge a country untill you have been there for longer periods. Remember the Almighty Saddam with his WMD and huge underground compounds...

i chucked my remote at the tv tonight, haven't done that in a while... why? cause i was watching the news and they spoke about Florida and how the hurricane 'might; hit them, i felt bad for the people of Florida until they mentioned at the end of the segment
:oh and 10 people have been killed in Cuba:
like Cuba was some thermometer that you stick out your window to gauge how many people might be killed in your own country
i should sleep

"Many of the so called facts about the Cuban situation are just American proppaganda"
Well, I haven't been in the US for years so I don't really know much about what Cuba looks like (or is shown) from there now. I get most of my facts from Cuban exiles and people who visited there, some of them for long (ie. a percussion student). From our long conversations we agreed our 'soviet edition' was vacation compared to what they have in Cuba now.
I was 15 when Berlin Wall went down so I have good memory of what it was like here.
Ever since then my most valuable posession is my passport, something people born in free countries take for granted.Have you ever asked youself why Cuban people risk death and die trying to get to the US? I don't think it's because they have false dreams.
Everytime people question evil nature of communism in Cuba i feel like somebody's questioning nazi ideology being evil.
I'm not writing this to argue, just to show my point of view. Everybody sees what they want to.I would love to go to Cuba too and I know I can't because every cent I spent there will prolong the suffering. I love every picture from there, their misery is so good looking.

ha! dinky using the suburban gangsta photo.
on a thread note:
I would love to go to Cuba too and I know I can't because every cent I spent there will prolong the suffering. I love every picture from there, their misery is so good looking.

I hope my sarcasm was clear enough.
Everyone loves pictures from Cuba. Havana is one of those places where it's hard to take a bad one.
The sun, the palm trees, the old Chevys, smiling kids..
"If it looks so beautiful it can't be bad"

my film roll was taken away in Euro Disney once, are they communists ? :)

"I hope my sarcasm was clear enough. "
it was sarcasm on sarcasm shaft : )
it's clear, and it is fucked. and the fact that havana (just to clarify, i have never been there myself)
"is one of those places where it's hard to take a bad 'photo'."
is indeed one place where i have never seen a photo i didn't like. it is almost like a fantasy island for people that don't live there, and something else for those that do. : \

A great place. Beautiful people.
Not only Havana, but its surroundings should nopt be forgotten.
A relative used their healthcare system wich far better, peoplewise, than most wester countries.
Ignore the [wrong] perceptions of its society by some who never been there, constructed over Rambo II-III screenings.
Other countries/other systems would have collapsed already, if endured the same external policies by 1 country.
