One of the best Sci-Fi series ever. Too bad Fox cancelled it after only 11 episodes. Anyway, I'm glad there's a film coming out.
Joss Whedon is the best.

The films ok. Never saw the series.

Really? You saw it? That's awesome. I'm not sure about the film, but the series is great.

Seeing this tomorrow with co-workers. I have no idea what to expect. They've been talking about this for weeks. I Never watched the TV series I just want to get out of this office for a few hours.

I didn't know it's a movie. My friend Jewel is in it.
Cool beans

they've been re-running the series on the SCIFI channel on Friday nights. I've been watching them on my DVR.
The show has very well developed characters and really quarky storyline. Each character has a ton of flaws. It's really fun to watch their missions go to hell. Nothing ever goes to plan.

i watched a marathon on sci-fi, granted it was a limited no. of episodes, and the movie trailer would give the impression it is just a 2 hr episode. that is it was an extension of the series. not farscape but a good show.

just watching the series to get into it all properly before I see the movie.
I like it.
You can see where a lot of the new Battlestar Galactica drew inspiration from.
And that is fucking awesome too..
Anyone catch the last episode last week?
- Clear0
yeah, watched Battlestar last friday. I can't believe we have to wait until JANUARY to see more!! #%$@#$@#%
I DVR'ed the last 3 episodes on my Media Center. My computer is trying to make a DVD of them as we speak hehehe..

That's what Joss is know for: his awesome, quirky characters and his ability to make some of the best dialogue out there. Not only that, but he manages to always get some awesome writers to work with him. There isn't anything made by him that I don't love...that includes Toy Story, haha. I'm looking forward to his next project, which is Wonder Woman.
I miss Buffy and Angel :(

(Sep 29 05, 10:26)You know her? That's so cool. She's been in lots of popular Canadian youth-oriented TV shows.

Forgot to mention that it's obvious that many shows are inspired by Joss, including Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars, and Smallville. One of the head writers works for Lost now and won an Emmy this year.
Sorry, I get excited about this stuff and know way to much info.

Saw this on Tuesday at a sneak preview. I had never watched the TV show before. The movie was ok. There were some funny lines, but there was nothing really original at all about the story or the characters, and the production design looked really low budget. Came across as a TV show that was stretched out across 2 hours. I'm sure if you are a fan of the TV show you would enjoy it, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else.

thanks for the info. I, of course, am seeing it. I don't think Joss is mega-rich, but I really enjoy his stuff. I can't believe he was one of, if not the first person to make a TV show that depicted no sound in space, the way it really is. Anyway, that's no big deal, but I found it to be interesting. There are little things like that.

You've been in space??? Just watched this. It's cross between Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars (if they only focused on Hans Solo) and the Goonies.
The fights scenes were one of the worst choreographed fights I've ever seen. All in all I give it a C+/B-.

Just saw the film, I've never heard of the series before, but I loved it. It was really fun to watch, characters were engaging, plot had some good surprises. I'd give it a solid B+.

I think if you watch(ed) the series you'd have a better understanding of what was going on. Obviously, most people haven't seen it (b/c it wasn't really given a chance), but if you ever get time just watch the series. It's really good, and not that many episodes.
I have a hard time believing that one of Joss's projects would have bad fighting scenes. The earlier seasons of Buffy needed improvement. Buffy started in 1997, when fight scenes were bad. After 1999, his stuff got to be some of the best on TV, especially once Angel came out, which had even better fight scenes, in some people's opinion.
Of course, I haven't seen the film yet. So I'll do that first :)

I just came back from watching it, and I have to say, Joss exceeded my expectations! Awesome film, definitely one of the best.
