Ex Boss Goes Insane

My ex Boss has finally lost it. The guy thinks the world is out to get him - and he's now going to make sure he gets them first.
This man has lost it - been in trouble with the law now for the last two years - carries a gun on him at all times... has the WORST luck w/his vehicle getting broken in too (happens ALL THE TIME)....
... is it Karma? It's gotta be something like it - because this person's literally lost all his clients (yes.. all), wife left him - has restraining orders from multiple people now... oui...
... but the guy still calls me and talks to me like I'm his buddy! I'm scared to tell him to stop calling... but torn also - the guy has ALWAYS been good to me. We've never crossed each other and still work together since I left his studio 1.5 years ago.
This guy was working on everything from Oakley to Tommy Hilfiger... now he hasn't got shit.
Do I hang in there with him? Keep being the buddy? A number of other folks - once they catch on that I'm not 'anti-steve'... well - I think that's going to hurt a load of professional relationships too.
Here's an excerpt from a conversation w/one of his new employees:
[11:30] girl: OH MY GOD
[11:30] girl: I HAD TO BAIL STEVE OUT OF JAIL LAST NIGHT
[11:43] Abizzyman: NO YOU DIDN'T
[11:43] girl: OH YES I DID
[11:43] Abizzyman: jeeez
[11:43] Abizzyman: what did he do now?
[11:44] girl: don't really know
[11:44] girl: haven't seen him yet
[11:44] girl: he got out and took a cab
[11:44] girl: but the paper says trespassing, criminal damages and thrests
[11:44] girl: threats
[11:45] girl: I didn't have the money
[11:45] Abizzyman: oh shit
[11:45] girl: so actually DAve bailed him out
[11:45] Abizzyman: omg
[11:45] Abizzyman: amazing
[11:46] Abizzyman: how much
[11:46] girl: 2500
[11:46] Abizzyman: ah.. not too bad
[11:46] girl: no.
[11:46] girl: it was a nightmare
[11:47] girl: that system sucks... the people there are the model for inefficency

Difficult situation, it sucks that people judge you based on your relationship with him. From what you've said, it would suck to leave him alone now, help him ge tback on his feet, maybe I'm just being an idealist heh

you're probably the only thing keeping him from killing a lot of people with a high powered rifle from a rooftop.
or, from him killing you for not talking with him anymore.

sounds fun
- lvl_130
wow. this sounds like a lose lose situation. not sure what to tell ya' man.
- todelete__20
kill him before he kills you.
from watching countless hours of csi you want to shave your entire body as to not leave behind any dna, use rubber gloves, and make it look like a suicide.
good luck.

Don't shun the guy on account of what other people might think. You should set your limit of how far you'll go for him - will you bail him out? - - but in your place I would want to help the guy out, i love insane people, they're the spice of life.

k0na... yer a sick son-of-a...
I love you though. :)
ethios - you're not thinking idealistically... I think you're just being humane and want to show support for a dude who's obviously in need of help...
... which is why I'm having such a hard time with this.
This guy's been around the block in our world too... he judged on a couple comm arts annuals a while back... has done some major illustration work for some big periodicals etc..
... all I'm saying is that he's talented, inspiring and has always been up front and honest with me on everything.
He's not a bad guy - he's just losing his shit - I think there's something wrong mentally. He never sleeps - moves at a million miles an hour (talks as fast too) and is ALWAYS in the middle of about 15 personal projects (building furniture, writing a book, puting together some amazing photography... you name it)...
this is him btw - I don't mind letting people in on the fact that this guy's having issues - everyone in this town knows it - and it's published info about his arrests etc...
talented fucker (shitty site though).

Having a strong, stable, normal boss is pretty fucking helpful.
- lvl_130
is the guy a meth addict? i'm being serious.
- ethios0
What sort of shit is he getting picked up for?
- emokid0
move, get your phone number changed. if necessary, change your last name as well.
oh, and buy a gun.
- scarabin0
so he's eccentric. he's not the first artist to be this way.
why cut him off just because others do. be happy that you have someone interesting in your life.
he's never done anything to you...
maybe just talk to him about it over a beer sometime

holy shit lvl_13... can't tell you how many people have asked this question...
... his skin tone has changed in the last two years... and he's covered in little gross dryskin patches or odd scabs (gross.. yes)...
... he once blurted out that he and his wife had a $30K /year coke habit back in the 80's through the early 90's... so I wouldn't put it past him to have a meth habit.
On top of that... the guy's son has already spent his fair share in rehab - he's barely 16.
This is big reason I left his company - along with every other person working for him during my stay there. He's just lost it... 3 years ago he was a 'genius' w/a full family - good group of employees and lots of clients...
... now he's barely able to ake care of himself.

i knew a guy like this. he sold a lot of cocaine too. slept with a gun under his pillow, etc.
shot himself in the head in the middle of the street after a fight w/ his girlfriend + other drama.
pretty effed up.
