my favourite thing in shanghai is all you can eat and drink for £5.
any nationality of food. japanese, french, mexican, BBQ, unlimited booze. it's rediculous.
i order a kilo of rice normally.

I was thinking of moving to shanghai, a good friend lives there and offered free rent for awhile. I wasn't sure if it would be easy to pick up work though, probably not.

He wouldn't be much of a friend if he charged you rent.

i am probably going back to china next summer. in fact last night i had a dream all about it. what timing...i went a few years back and visited shanghai, but i spent most of the time in a town / city called tengzhou.
how did you find your place to live? you just are doing freelance over the interweb?

anzelina. i came to china on a one way ticket. i had a bit of website work lined up and knew it would last me some time. i traveled china for 2 months and moved in with a new chinese friend! it's good here!

Mydo I have been considering a move to China for a while. I envy you right now. The west is very boring for me.
How do you rate the job market there?
How do you get around?
Does everyone really spit alot?
Is everything upside-down?
but relly good on you for being adventurous.....take your next weekend in bangkok if there are no cuties.
What can you tell us about shanghai?
- mydo0
so many questions! errr.
not too sure about the job market as i'm too scared to look. freelance and learning chinese is more than enough.
i get around by taxi. practise street names!
shanghai is super modern. it is like blade runner. the rest of china spit.
no every thing smells.
in shanghai you can spend between 10p and £5 on the same beer, depending where you go!

get a motorcycle dude. You will find that you can completely conceal the fact that you are a westerner with the helmet and some proper chinese clothes. Then you can rip around and when you pop your helmet off people will freak out...

I grew up in hong kong - shanghai has changed so much over the past 15 years that it is virtually unrecognisable as to what it was before.
great city
