kOna, I understand your point and I agree with it partly. But do you have kids? If so, then are they in school? If you don't then you don't really understand where I'm coming from. No matter how good of a parent you are, society will always influence your precious children. That's what I'm saying is scary. I'm sure that that little girl had a very rough and disfunctional family. It's just sad. Very sad.

I'm convinced that the more money that is pulled out of social programs and honest discussions about birth control, the more this type of thing is going to happen.

none that i know of. but when the doorbell rings and i'm not expecting anyone i freak out thinking there is going to be a baby on my doorstep.best of luck with yours. we are a product ouf our society but we are ultimately molded from our parents. i think burt reynolds said that just before he jumped his firebird over the river in cannonball run.

hahhaha, I hear that kOna. I don't want a call from INS. Pay Up Bitch JazX, you got two mixed kids in the Dark Continent and they want theirs!

Thanks kOna. It's the toughest job you'll ever love. I think the Peace Corps had that as their tagline at one point.

...a tiny detail...
i've noticed it in Van Sant's "Elephant" and i'm sure everyone did.
the kid who takes the gunshot is playing a videogame in his room before the killing. it's a laptop scene where the dude kills people randomly in a "Gerry" like landscape. this is not random i think and it really connects with the beautiful but empty "Gerry" movie. "Gerry" it's a statement like i've never seen in a US film.
i feel (more than i can reason) that he's telling us about the indiscriminate value of life and that somehow that scene reveals the lack of reason about commercial stuff (the way people connect to it) and one cannot avoid thinking that we're building some sort of aesthetically driven society not based on content but on effect.
and sometimes i think if we should not mind (as visual workers with huge influence on kids) about the PURPOSE of all this shit we're doing.
really.
