Quark or InDesign?

Any printer that can't accept InDesign files has bigger problems. InDesign all the way.

don't kow if you'll bother reading past all the quark haters to get here... but i think your town and the suppliers really matters. where i live there are only two places that will take an indesign file. so i stick to quark.
sure its not pretty, but it doesn't slow down my production comparatively. but if the printers use it...

all of our printers and publications take InD files and/or InD pdfs (in the case of pubs). haven't experienced any problems with the output since I gave up Quark last year

Even though I'll say InDesign, I don't agree that its such an easy learning curve.
InDesign has some weird shit to it.

not to be rude but i have a sneaky suspicion that if someone says you can understand indesign in an hour i seriously don't think that that person really uses indesign and/or doesn't have deep knowledge about print. it's like saying flash is easy to understand.
