oh, and I should point out that 'krysalis' HAS to be left aligned... they won't have it any other way (rediculous, I know)

i like the cover type layout of 1, but i like the treatment you used on 4 (the shapes in the letterforms)
the others seem too bulky, and there isnt much heirarchy in 4.
nice photo too

I like number 1. Also maybe its just me, but I think it may be a little too soft in colour. *shrug*

thanks, I was leaning towards #1 myself too. as for being soft in colour, what I'd really like to do is get the original vector image and replace the background behind all the butteflies with solid red, although I don't like my chances much

4 is the only one in which the type doesen´t look squeezed.
try to set it higher, size between 2 and 3 and left range.

ah
i like the photo better before...that red is a bit much
- jevad0
dunno...but you have definately lost the 'toward the sun' impact...

i agree with bonseff. i think that your revision is much too 'constructivist'.
overall, i think the photo that you are working with is really nice. why do they feel the type needs to be cramped like that? it really doesn't fit the photo. the font seems much too harsh as well. it seems as if there are two different feelings in your concept that just don't come together. the ideas are there, the concept is apparent, but the execution is just shy.
I don't mean to be harsh, 'cause i think you are pretty damn close. the concepts just need to come together. if they have to have it 'their way' then hand it to 'em. i just think you should step up and fight it : )

I agree with the red comment, lose the red. It's looks japanese, plus red and black is such and overused combination. I also kinda liked the type on #3. I think it stands out a lot better. You should stay away from the type treatment in #4 though, it has a cheesy photoshop look.

The type has to be that way, because we had to develop the "logo" first, before the cover, or even that poster. I argued that it was a stupid way to go about it, but they insisted that they be done seperately. Then I get sent that background as their producer apparantly thinks himself as a bit of a designer, and the band like it too. I agree that they don't really match up (and I think the butterflies are trite, but they think they're cool), but it doesn't leave me much. As for the position, the band wanted that logo, but only if it's always placed right to the left, so the edge forms the vertical in the K. ugh!!
good points about the sun effect gone - I'll play with the background some more.
