I think the paper texture is nice, and the font/color seems to work as well.
The illustration of the bread and roller throws it off tho, it looks too strange to me. And the mod girl as well.. it's actually a cool little illustration, but I just don't see it working with the whole bread company thing.
So I would say the card w/out the bread or girl... just the textured paper and typo.

hmm points taken, except the bread thing is from the old logo and is to be kept.

the ascender on the d is throwing me off. maybe thin it or incorporate it into the design more

looks really nice .. you should look at the kerning, leading and alignment
wish you could redraw the logo and have it look hand done instead of like it was drawn in ps
i like the top directional

i like the colours and textures. the illustration of the girl is probably too modern but i still like it. i really dislike the font choice, it looks like a 1960's / 70's brand.
- eficks0
kld: thats part of the font. might have a look at it though.
salisae: actually I didn't even think about redrawing it, might pull out the tablet and give it a go. great idea! thanks.
do you think there is too much spacing in the type?airey: hey fellow brisbanite. it is still undecided whether the girl thing is to be used for that reason, might be too modern. might scare away the older folk. personally i hope it is used.
as for the font, a whole bunch were used for the original comps but that was the final one chosen.thanks all.

yes..
i would close the kerning and align the leadinghave you ever manually set kerning? meaning .. between each set of characters bring them closer or further apart .. like whoever did in the logo text.
sorry if this is confusing.
- eficks0
yeah I set the kerning. I purposely spread it out like that, but yeah I guess its too much.
urgh logo design is my worst enemy!
- vb_0
scandinavian is cool.. but the line beneath it needs some work on kerning indeed! also too much space between those words.
- elms0
maybe some more variability to the line thickness in the illustration?

There is a definite photoshop brush look to the image.
Looks aside, it means you won't be able to make the mark any larger than it is right there on the screen.
I like the textured background a lot, though.
- eficks0
well the original symbol is a lot larger than that, its just resized to fit on screen!
Will fix the kerning and spacing and all that, thanks!

the mod girl is just setting the bakery up for yeast infection jokes.
- eficks0
ahah

Enter response: I think it looks great.

talk them into losing the baked goods illustration. it is not strong enough to stand on its own or to be a support to any type treatment. i'm sure they don't want to, but you have to convince them that it is the weakest link. if they must have baked goods then hire an illustrator to revamp!
other than that, the style of the type is fine, albeit it needs some tweaks. the mod girl may be too much though, but that depends on the brief i suppose.
- eficks0
thanks, theres no losing the breads symbol, it must stay, plus theres no time for illustration now since the signage needs to go to print, today or tomorrow.
thanks for the tips though.
as for the 'mod girl' at this stage, all it would be used for is the loyalty member cards or something, nothing else.
cheers

need better bagale... or get a donut.
- eficks0
bagels aren't sold, nor are donuts, actually well unholy donuts are, but not the holy ones.
