so, shooting some video for an art gallery project.
DV camera = Canon XL2very little action in the frame, only passerbys. however the video doesn't look near as clean as it should. The flat white areas on the wall are grainy BUT espcially the edge where the wall meets the floor, it is so jagged.

We've run it through several filters in AE, but can't seem to get rid of the jagged edge. Any more blurring and we'll have an unusable video.
Kinda new at video work, what could be the problem? camera setting maybe?
any comments are welcome

24p

Are you trying to export it as high-def(HD)? THe XL2 is not a progrssive scan camera.

hmm, does it look like that only on your computer monitor or is it on the television as well?
just with stills?
it could be a number of things. check your field dominance. for ntsc it should be rendered even field first.

Yeah Chief,
Also, sometimes you just get that kind of stepping and have to blend it out. ReVision makes some software for that sort of thing.

I think we may have it, playing around with "interpret" feature in AE cleans it up really well. I guess that is it....but not clear which interpret setting is best.

Check you capture card for that info.
