"No, I do not know what you speak of. Please, show me an example?" - discipler
Waaiit a seeecond.....No friggin way, I draw the line here. I'm not getting suckered into debating religion with an internet evangelist on a design forum. Reading and cross referencing bible quotes and copied/pasted
arguments from christian apologetics websites may be your idea of a fun evening but not mine. Forget I said anything.... I have work to do.

His "word" meaning what? "human intermediaries/authors" from 1700 years ago?
- discipler0
Version3, I don't know anything about priests and I question whether many of them are truly born again believers because of the performance mentality of Catholicism. But regardless, I doubt your statistics. You only hear of priests in the news because they are priests. It says something about your character to make throw the insults that you do. Not that I expect much more from you.
Mimio, He has told you all about himself and his character in his word.

I think the conceit of Theism is that it wants to tell you the nature and desire of God. If it were real and inclined to do so it could just tell me all about himself/herself/it in person.

i didn't know this was a popularity contest??and why not because i referenced the fact that christians have the highest percentage of child molestation than any other profession?
did that remind you of the fact that the 15% that people give to the church help keep those priests out of prison
the whole thig is bs, you shouldn't need a book or god to know to be good to other people

punch, i have been studying the Bible and studying the works of Scholars regarding the reliability of the scriptures for about 15 years now and I have yet to come across an apparent contradiction that was not clearly and easily explained.
No, I do not know what you speak of. Please, show me an example?
- jakeyj0
yeah i agree punch there are contradictions.
i don't get worried about it personally. there was like a 60 minutes special or something awhile back where 10 people witnessed a crime and they all gave ten different accounts on some crucial details. big deal. did it mean the crime didn't happen? no.
i think if they were trying to make the story up or whatever they would have had much closer accounts and would have gotten together to make sure their stories all lined up.
my thoughts....

Discipler -
No, I am not talking about missing details, I am talking about actual contradictory accounts.
I know you know the verses, and I also know that it is an act of intellectual dishonesty to deny the problem.

disipler makes me temporarily hope god is real, for he will not allow discipler into heaven
god does not need a PR man nor want one from what i would assume
all the others talking in his name molest children, i wonder if this is true of our religious informant

Punch you are speaking of "apparent contradictions". Deeper study reveals a perfect harmony between the synoptic gospels, they actually compliment each other providing details where another does not.
- punch0
Discipler, even the synoptic gospels contradict each other on basic narrative details.
- Geith0
Nice, punch. I'm looking forward to that.

Punch, the answer is door #1. I embarked on said study before becoming a believer. So, it was objective and perhaps even with a healthy dose of skepticism. And well, my conclusion is that of many who have done the same: the Biblical record is reliable.
Most historical volumes that you and I accept without question are based on 7 to 10 manuscript copies and are replete with significant errors. In contrast, there are over 120 manuscripts uncovered for the NT record alone and which bear an uncanny and remarkable consistency with one another and stand up under the most scrutinizing Textual Criticism. Check into it.

Geithlol. No shit eh?
BTW, you said the all powerful beliefomatic defines you as 100% Hindu. Here is a sample of some of the cool stuff you can look forward to in your new faith:
