So my iPod decided today to completely freeze up on me
Ironically, on the screen its displaying the song
DR Greenthumb by Cypress HillBut I cant do anything with it,
cant go to next track, cant reboot it....WTF?????Anyone have this happen to their iPod??
what should I do?

press pause and play for 5 second if you're on a 3rd gen ipod. it will "reboot"
- radar0
does it do anything when you connect it to your computer?
- gruntt0
you may have activated the "clapper." Try clapping your hands a couple of times.

haha, on that note, you should also try and do other actions with your various body parts. just in case.

if holding play/pause down won't turn it off.
wait till bettery dies and then re-charge your problem should be fixed.did happen to me when a banana fingered friend was pawing at the buttons with all the tenderness of a drunk rhino.

take it back to the store so they can reformat it

I read on Apple support if you put it down your pants for 10 minutes it will overheat and automatically reboot.
- gruntt0
have you tried verbally abusing it and then after a few minutes apologizing to it, promising it will never happen again?
- Ramanisky20
play/pause doesnt work because its completely locked
put it down my pants.....that didnt work
yelled at it and then told it that I was sorry and that it would never happen again.....that didnt work
tried the clap on clap off..... that didnt work
- JazX0
smack it three times like the Fonz did in Happy Days.
- Ramanisky20
did that too
dammit ...I just bought the Goddamn thing back in December

flick the hold button back a forth a few times.
and/or
"To unlock it, reset it by holding down the Menu and Play buttons on the first three generations of iPods (or the Play and Select button on the mini and fourth-generation iPod) for about six seconds." - article here... http://playlistmag.com/help/2004…

I have had mine lock up like that, and I just plugged it into a wall charger, and once it recieved a full charge it worked fine?
- JazX0
when plugging in and out of your computer, make sure you are ejecting it via software. unless the locked button is the issue..?

happened to my mini once...as soon as the battery died, i recharged it, and it seemed happy enough.
- blindpilot0
get a knife and threaten to cut it

this may seem dumb, but you said the play/pause button wont respond. make sure you unlock the buttons with the switch next to the headphones jack. I've seen people complain their ipod were broken but they just realise it was an lock.

um.
make sure it's connected to either your computer via firewire, or to the power supply.
flip hold on then off then hold the menu and select button together for about 5 seconds. if that doesn't work, try the same with menu and play (after flicking hold.)
do it do it do it
- Ramanisky20
still frozen.
guess i'll just wait till the battery drains out
fucking sucks
I wonder if it had anything to do with a corrupt mp3 maybe a virus attached to the file itself
