oh, ok, point taken there. however, moneyball will never win championships in this era.
(so glad billy beane turned down the sox job and it went to theo instead)
- JazX0
yeah don't bitch at me about it, small market teams are at so much of a disadvantage it isn't even funny
of course you know that mattyd, but still like to talk about parades.
beantown bastard
;)

WHAT???? I CANT HEAR YOU JAZ!!! THERE IS ANOTHER PARADE GOING BY MY WINDOW!!!!

It may not always win championships, but it will usually get you in the playoffs.
Small teams, like my A's, can't keep their homegrown talent once they get good and hit the market. Look at the linups of the Yanks and BoSox, it's rediculous.

Arthur, because you went to CCA and your work is so sweet, and because Eric Byrnes should really be swilling beers with Bronson and Millar and Bellhorn, we'll let you slide.
mattyd, 3 blasts against Randy Johnson and we're still tied? Well, at least Renteria is coming around. And Jay Payton needs to get more at bats, somehow, someway (of course he gets caught looking as soon as I type this)
Looks like another nail-biter.

As someone who gets to watch the A's quite frequently, I can say that their pitching staff is still money despite Moulder and Hudson getting traded. Haren and Harden will put up huge numbers this year, and Blanton might surprise a few folks too.
- mattyd0
kingjulien, i know man. not many hits, but theyve made the ones they got count. renteria is looking good though. and im also glad we got some closure from the 99 alcs with the phantom tag on offerman by knoblauch with that tag by millar on womack - cripes, that was no where near an out. ill take it though.
and sorry, jaz, i had to do it. you left it wide open...
- JazX0
well no offense, but frequently you would have spelled Mulder's name right. hehee ;)
he is sucking for the St. Louis Stinkbirds anyway so no worries, he's 0-2 and will probably be 0-3 considering his next start is at FLA.
Mark my words boys, FLA has got young gun arms and some nice hitting.
- mattyd0
gotta go watch the game now though. ill be back when its over.

wow, this is crazy...

I know I'm biased, and Sox fans shouldn't be allowed to lean over the wall, but am I the only one who feels Sheffield threw a punch before relaying it into the infield? Shouldn't that be an issue? And no, that woman didn't throw the beer. Sheffield smacked it off himself.
Thank God this wasn't another Detroit incident.
- mattyd0
okay, seems like you had a difference of opinion in the national telecast. i had the local commentators for my game and the issue was that it looked like the guy was trying to tell the other fans to move back, and in doing so, accidently clipped assho... i mean sheffield on the head. still no reason for sheff to throw down, BEFORE HE THROWS THE BALL IN. what an ass.
glad the sox pulled it out though.
- GreedoLives0
haaaa what a classic!
they'll be rerunning this one on espn classic for sure.
that guy did look like he was aiming to clip sheffield a bit while making it appear innocent. see that shit-eating smirk on his face afterwards? bet he had like six beers in him and thought i was a swell idea.
but besides that, how about varitek being absolutely clutch? rent-a-error finally coming around the bend? and matsui being some sort of demi-god of baseball?
and the home plate ump looking like baby huey, impaired judgement and all?
- mattyd0
i dunno greedo. it could very well be that, but what i saw was that he was moving his arm over to tell the dicks that were reaching for the ball to move back. from the replays i saw, it seemed like he wasnt even looking at sheff when he moved his arm down.
just me though, i could be totally wrong though. regardless of what happened, sheff is still a dick.
- GreedoLives0
no arguments here.
that bat-waggling wall-eyed psycho is no friend of mine.
- PonyBoy0
what pisses me off most about watching espn was that Berman and the other douche-bag were bad-mouthing the fan non-stop and not questioning what the 'swipe' was all about.
It looked to be like the dude was giving the 'go home' motion... but if you look at his face - he wasn't really looking at Gary CockSuckfield.
Fuck the main media - they're always biased against the BoSox.
fuckers.
Shefcock pushed the fan too... isn't that.. .like... WRONG?
- mattyd0
not too mention he has a mustache that rivals that of hitlers...
- PonyBoy0
oh... AND HE'S BLACK!!
I mean... C'MON!!
//hehe
