"The effect of this decision is to disallow new private domain name registrations on .US domain names. In addition, if you already own a private .US domain name registration, you will be forced to forfeit your privacy no later than January 26, 2006. By that time, you will need to choose between either making your personal information available to anyone who wants to see it, or giving up your right to that domain name."

"This decision was unilaterally made by the National Telecommunications and Information Association ("NTIA") www.ntia.doc.gov without hearings that would determine the impact on those affected, and delivered without notice — in short, the NTIA decision was made without due process of any kind."and btw whois information can be hidden from public view upon request of your registar

its one of many headflines i've submitted to http://gnn.tv with which i am directly connected to. i was going to call you a fuck, but saw your profile was a girls pic so i'll just call you a bitchit would help if those who judged me here remembered that there is a world outside NT

i fail to see an issue. whois should be public domain. it should be valid and available for anyone to access.
i don't see a need for private, covert domain name ownership.
seems silly to me.
this isn't the government breaking into your home, tapping your phone and raping your children...this is simply making what is already public domain valid and available.
it is laughable what some will take up arms against.

i never really put much thought into anonymous registrations. thanks for the links.

the point is so much what happened, but how it happened.
Have you seen Enemy of the State?
we just took another step closer to that world

anonymous domain ownership is what makes net scams, spam and other troubles so easy.
no accountability.

really??? fuck? shit? oh no, protect me from big brother.
i don't want to run around the city in my bathrobe.
on the list of important privacy and civil liberties are concerned proving publicly that you are infact the legitimate owner of your domain is pretty low.

not important, also not necessary, nor legal to force such a thing through in that manner. you probably agree with the patriot act though.

why do you care? this isn't a dating site. do you simply wish to take another jab at me once you are able to pinpoint me on a map from some other stereotypical point of view?
