yeah Mirola, that was the job it was massive. I think it was joe firmage who was behind it all until he decided to not pay the last two months of the bill that the entire global company had been working on. I think it literally happened all over christmas!
A real shame because they were a good bunch and did some great stuff.

It was Nik Roope. Saw a talk by him last year, and I remember the blurb for it stating that he was a former member.

no, i left 2 wks before the layoffs were announced. i was an intern at the time.
was that the project that was supposed to document all human knowledge and they were going to send a rocket into space with a camera strapped to the back? i didn't realise they put much money into that? i did hear it all got called off.
they had just won a pitch through a friend of mine that was worth a fair bit when they closed down. i was hoping to get a healthy referral commission but oh well.

andy cameron is now head of Interactive dept. here in Fabrica. He recently edited this book:

i saw a talk by one of the tomato guys at some protein night once.
they were explaining the work they did for sony on it's 'organic brand' where users could log in, move some shapes around and save them so that when sony produced a new ad it would use the latest arrangement of soft focus squares behind the logo.
The crowd weren't too convinced by their justification of it being a 'live version of the Sony Brand that users and consumers can influence the look of the Sony brand'.
I think someone commented 'isn't it just a collection of squares that will look the same no matter what you do with it?'
Then it got a little tasty with the questions getting more critical and a sense of the emperor's in the all-together type of thing.
It ended with the guy from Tomato saying "well Sony loved it and they paid shit loads, so there!"

hey mirola,
think i might have left for the mill by then... I was there from 1997 to summer 2000 I think?
- soda0
mate Oven was a disaster, or the way it ended was.
Obviously you weren't one of the freelancers who didn't get paid when the Sagan project (I think that's what it was) went tits up.
They spent a fortune on that only to find out there was no money...

It's weird looking back... I used ot work here one week out of college... http://www.edwards-churcher.com/…
- soda0
when I finished college there wasn't anyone 'doing web-sites'
I think there were 5 companies doing 'multi-media' back then...
remember No-Ho digital anyone?
- System-Idle0
in that book, it says that some members of antirom are teaching at royal college and middlesex uni.
Is that still not the case?
- mirola0
i wouldn't say oven was a disaster. they were doing really well until they decided to pull the plug and downsize from 300 to 3.
- mirola0
hey james i went for an interview there in about 2000, were you there then?
- Bluejam0
they got off the design bus and formed a ballet group.
- soda0
some stayed on with tomato as the interactive branch, I think they still work with them?
I think one of the Roope brothers went over and started Poke but I'm not sure if he was the Roope who worked at AntiRom?
Others went onto romandson
