does anyone know how to remove eprom chips from old printers and burn new information onto them?

you've mistaken this for a super-mega-nerd forum.
don't worry, it happens.

yea we are just regular caliber nerds, all of the social akwardness, none of the technical skill.

ha ha, i thought this thread was going to be about an e-prom.
complete with e-corsages and e-dates, et cetera.

haha. those are some good responses.
i don't even have the slightest clue an e-prom is.
- DragKng0
it's the computer equivalent of the prom except it's on-line dancing for web geeks who are too shy to actually see their dates in person.
Wanna chat with me? download this mp3 and we can listen together... awwwwwwww geek love

it's actually eeprom, no?
"EEPROM is similar to flash memory (sometimes called flash EEPROM). The principal difference is that EEPROM requires data to be written or erased one byte at a time whereas flash memory allows data to be written or erased in blocks. This makes flash memory faster. "
- some internet source...
and no, I have no idea on how to program eeprom.

I hate when you guys are so right.

- actually, no, i asked about the eprom, with a single e, which is erasable. an eeprom in an electronically erasable prom chip.
i didn't realize that it was that hard to read, i don't think i asked for a re-spelling of the word right?

wow what a dick.
- gruntt0
smells like asshole in here... anybody else? is it just me?
- SteveJobs0
too bad you didn't ask for directions, cause i know this great path that leads to 'the fuck outa here'.
- hellbert0
i smell a bunch of whiny cry babies who can't seem to wrap their heads around this topic so as usual, drop some dumb useless comments....
...next.

hellbert. i'm sensing a lot of anger in you. maybe it has something to do with the word hell in your name. i don't know.

I can reset the e/eeprom on my canon by punching in some stupid combination of the three buttons on the front panel. I had to Google for the exact combo, as it's not 'standard practise'.
I hope that's some help.
Next time - try not to be such a dick.
- k0na_an0k0
Oh dude, are you just trying to reset it?!? Well if you asked nicely.
I have a hp model and to reset it I had to take a hammer and smash the front three buttons.
Try that hellguy.

you use a chip removal tool, take the eprom out, expose it to ultraviolet light for ~20 minutes to erase it, and use a eprom programming device to reprogram the chip, then simply set the chip back into the board.
something like this will do the trick.
http://www.batronix.com/electron…
good luck. if you don't know what you're doing with system level programming you might fuck the chip.
eproms have a write limit...a couple hundred times and then they turn to shit.
i've only done this once or twice.
